Description Here is the finished version of Emma Frost for 's X-Jam .

The version with a neutral background for the jam submission is here .

Finally, here is the original sketch . Obviously, I made some tweaks to the pose and face during the coloring phase.

Photoshop CS2 with a Wacom Tablet
Original Size: 2500x4000

Edit, 08/28/07

I said I was going to fix her hair. I did. Due to my procrastination, Emma's hair was incredibly rushed so I could get her finished in time for the X-Jam deadline. I was not happy with the end result at all. So, since I had time... I tried some new coloring techniques and I think her hair is MUCH improved. If you really want to see the old hair, it can be seen on the neutral background version (linked to above).

Nice! As always, you make me wish I had the tiniest clue of how to color art. I'm doomed to faded pencils in the face of your colored brilliance!

Dex! Colors may be pretty, but never underestimate how gorgeous and fluid those pencil lines of yours are. I'm still jealous.

... but of course, thank you!

(Also, it's good to know you're still kicking around somewhere!)

I love the nice, soft colors. Maybe it could have been a little more "defined" in the face, making the features a little more notable, but overall this really works for me.

In regards to what you said about the face, I really do agree. There are so many things I wanted to keep tweaking on this, but I just ran out of time. I may touch up her face a bit more when I go back to revisit her hair.

Thanks for the comments!

I want to emphasize again how much I love the coloring on this, though. The gradient way the highlights and shadows appear makes it look very soft and smooth.

It really is a great piece.

The soft feel of this piece really goes well with the character. Nice work!

Really like the shadding and the pose. The X logo on the floor is a nice touch. I would have used a darker neutral color for the background on you ArtJam just to give Juggs a chance, but that is really nice work!

Thanks for the comments! Hopefully if the white background on the other version makes things too difficult, Juggs will let me know. Changing it to something else would only take a few clicks of the mouse. I certainly wouldn't mind doing it.
