Description No sooner had Will pulled himself up on deck, than the wind died. All at once and unnaturally. Unsteadily, the blacksmith rose off scraped hands and knees behind the cover of the single mast, knowing already what had stolen the wind from the Hardtack's busted sails.

The Seawolfsbane had finally caught up.

'It's too late,' Will thought, they'll see Jack in the water; game's up- unless... There was but one clear course, which Will planned to steer for all it was worth. ...a diversion.

'All right,' Will thought, though of course it wasn't, 'think 'Jack.'' No wait, that's an oxymoron.' Still, he had to get in character, if he was going to play the part. So again, what would Jack do? 'Get himself knocked out by cannon-fire, and leave the blacksmith to solve his problems,' Will reviewed sourly. Better question: what would Captain Jack Sparrow, vanquisher of the Dread Undead Pirate Barbossa, dastardliest Rogue upon or under the Spanish Main, and luckiest devil alive and still smiling, do?

'Why, this, naturally,' Will realized suddenly.

===================================
Story:

On the return voyage from a ghostly misadventure in France, while sailing a little ship Jack commandeered named 'The Hardtack', Will and Jack run into a ship of mercenaries out to capture the infamous Captain Sparrow.

Jack gets knocked out during a broadsides between their ships, and Will gets a crazy idea. First, he 'borrows' Jack's effects, puts them on, and smears wet gunpowder under his eyes, disguising as Sparrow. Then, he ties the unconscious pirate to a slab of driftwood, and floats him off to sea, so that Jack won't get caught (and probably killed) by the mercenaries.

Will's reasoning behind this charade is: he's curious as to who is after Jack, and why. Also, he figures that once the mercenaries find out he's not Jack, they'll just let him go (instead of killing him or locking him up, like they'd do if he were really Sparrow), and then both he and Jack will be free and safe.

Poor, naive blacksmith...

Anyway, this scene is from a fanfiction of mine titled 'The Seawolfsbane', which I haven't posted yet, but which will probably appear at my profile on fanfiction.net soon.

(My profile name is Black Sands Britannica, by the way.)

Drawn with colored pencils, over the course of two searing summer days when I had nothing better to do.

Thanks so much for looking, and (if you'd be very kind), please let me know what you think!

Love the colours in this one! I like that you create your own scenes with the characters, rather than drawing straight from a particular photograph. I really love the expression on his face, and that one flowered button How long would you say it takes you to do something like this?
