Looks like someone didn't expect to meet an actual minotaur in the maze...

The Endless Maze
The Maze was centuries old and in living memory no-one had found their way to it's heart.Β Legends of the treasures and horrors that might await the seeker there were without number. The place was alive the storytellers claimed and it resented visitors to its precincts; the walls shifted behind the unwary traveller, closing some paths and opening others while some property of the place served to confuse the senses.Β Though many came to try their luck and skill all left disappointed.Β
In fact it's likely many would never have left at all but for the girl; the girl whose origin was as mysterious as the maze itself.Β Was she the ghost of a lost traveller? A beguiling fairy who delighted in teasing the living maze and denying it it's prey? Or even the spirit of the maze itself finally relenting and showing mercy?Β For those poor souls hopelessly lost in the depths of the maze despairing of ever returning to the world outside she would invariably appear, peeking shyly at them from around a corner, beckoning them to follow.Β Without a word or a backward glance she would lead them to safety, slowly fading with their every step until she disappeared entirely just before the great gates that guarded the Maze's entrance.
Hope you like it, I wanted to try something a little upbeat

Before reading the description I was thinking of it more as the maze is a manifestation of the spirits design, somewhere she can endlessly wander being lost forever. Whether she did it to herself on purpose to be left alone, or it was an unconscious punishment for something, no one would ever know.
This is a lovely piece, well done β€

The Ghost's Temptation
She met him in the maze. She was young and excited, thinking they would walk and talk together, and perhaps enjoy some stolen kisses where there was no one to see. Sadly, his intentions were not so innocent, and all he wanted was a lack of witnesses. His motives are lost to time but the embrace he greeted her with ended with a knife and a single sigh that was heavy with betrayal. Now she frightens young lovers, and leads anyone with ill intentions on a merry dance until they are hopelessly lost. She has spooked countless couples, who find her sadly looking on all of a sudden; has rescued a number of people from false friends, thieves, and the worst kinds of bad date; has guided the odd lost child; and has inspired dozens of ghost stories and attracted many thrill seekers. It has been more than 80 years, and she is tired. The grandson of her murderer enters the maze, alone. Could this be the key to setting herself free at last? She knows what it is to be an innocent robbed of life here, and she does not wish to pass on her curse, but... surely this is an opportunity she will never have again. What should she do?
