I'd said Knuckles, in canon, he's supposed to be the STRONGEST character in that series, (And I mean, physical strength).

Here's how I see it:
- Old Knuckles wins against Werehog.
- Old Knuckles is at a stale mate against Sonic.
- Old knuckles wins against Boom Knuckles (who is too concerned as to why his opponent looks JUST like him)
- Werehog is at a stale mate against Sonic (speed of Sonic would make up for strength)
- Werehog wins against Boom Knuckles (because Boom Knuckles pulls instead XD)
- Sonic loses to Boom Knuckles (in an instant)

I'm actually going with Knuckles.
Reasons:
1. He beat Bark in Sonic the Hedgehog 270 (and BRUTAL is an understatement for the fight)
2. He beat Meterex (some of the MOST POWERFUL beings in the universe, especially the one that looked like Bumblebee)
3. He beat Sonic in Chess (Sonic X season 3, can't find the episode)
