I was watching A&E's Ivanhoe miniseries a few months ago, which features a character named Rowena, and inevitably started thinking about Rowena Ravenclaw. And, just as inevitably, started drawing a medieval Rowena Ravenclaw who only looks...a whole lot like her miniseries counterpart.(This is the miniseries with Steve Waddington, BTW, not Anthony Andrews who is a superb Scarlet Pimpernel but not the Ivanhoe for me.)
Rowena Ravenclaw belongs to JKR, like so many things. The more I type "Rowena" the weirder it looks.

Rowena is the female version of Rowan. Which is also a type of tree, a type of fish, two towns and a river. Rowena is the name of a kind of grass (lawn, not smoking) too.

Cool! Rowena grass sounds a little more sophisticated than your average bluegrass.
