Preliminary concepts for that gryph thing. Colours may or may not get tweaked, I like them as is but could get more creative.Getting more excited for the construction, even though I don't really show it lately.
For those just now joining us, ~jycius is doing a lot of the technical, mechanical stuff, mainly the wings and stilts, because I am crap at figuring stuff like that out (as demonstrated by my self-powered Physics car last year.)

Thank you! Unfortunately we didn't have the time or the expertise to make everything according to our plans (we tried so hard with the stilts but they just did not cooperate at all :< ) and we had to cut out a few portions of the design. Also, it was my first time working with dying fabric and sewing my own patterns, so things came out brighter and less precise than I had hoped, but it still made for a pretty good costume

I noticed you are making a sort of digitigrade stilt/ foot wear device there. Do you know the terrain well at the Ren fair you are making this for? I'd just be worried about the safety of walking in such a design the way it is drawn up.

As for the stilts, my main concern in the costume making is design, fabric, and decorative elements. My boyfriend, ~jycius is concerned mainly with the "hardware," namely, the wings and the stilts. He did bring up the issue of safety in wearing them, especially since we're cutting it close to the deadline and I won't have much time to practice walking in them. He's altered the stilt design to something much more practical since this design was uploaded.

I noticed you said you were making those wings, yes? I'm a cosplayer, and I know of some tutorials where people make very realistic wings.

I -have- seen them that big, though from what I hear they are very clunky, and get messed up...
If you can't get feathers in that color, I recommend mixing rubbing alcohol with FW ink. It is a wonderful dye and very inexpensive to make!

Oh yes, I forgot to say. If you do not want folding wings like in the second tutorial, but want them that big, PVC pipe is the alternative. Just make sure they have the shape of an outspread wing.
Then follow the directions in the videos. You should be good.
