I finally finished it! Background and horses. I'm actually quite happy about it. I will scan it though, because I dont think this photo is detailed enough. Plus the colors are a bit different then on the photo. I'll upload the scan as soon as possible.
I have had this idea in my head since I heard the song Four white stallions for the first time. Never got around to drawing it, years went by, and now it is finally done. And it looks almost exactly the way I had it in my head. I need some more practice on backgrounds, would have liked some more detail in the sand and stuff. I'll manage one day.......

four white stallions coming out of spanish bushes. awesomeness! Hell, did you use a ref photo or your imagination? I absolutely love the whole idea! No denying you did a great job on the shading and the anatomy... fantastic work as usually!

Well, I actually used four ref pics for this one! A different ref for each horse! One of the refs I used for shading and colouring of all four because some of the refs were of black or chestnut horses with the opposite shading and lighting! Background was my imagination... I need practice on that.

ah, beautiful... I find white horses SO difficult to depict in colour. This is actually kind of helpful, I can see you have blues, yellows and greys in there, and it looks great. I love the spanish headshapes! I think the far left horse is my favourite. Great piece!!

They still needed the background though, whites horses on white paper is not that spectacular! Good oppurtunity to practice those skills (which need a lot more practice!!).

I don`t know.. it looks static to me. I remember you mentioning dustclouds in the WIP? I also miss flowing tails.. It lacks thunder to me.
No mistaking the shading on the white horses is simply genius!!

Yes, you're right. But I didnt know how to put the dust in and left it like this. I need more experience on backgrounds and dustclouds.
About the tails, I had ref pics of all the horses (still cant do without....) and when I put the sketches of all together, all tails disapeared behind the others. Even the one on the right had no tail in the ref because he is coming straight at you. Could have thought one up, but wasnt sure.

I think it would look better with a tail. I am really missing one. That's the downside of drawing from photorefs I suppose..
How honest of you to admits your inexperience at backgrounds! I am way behind you on actual horses, let alone backgrounds! So you could have fooled me LoL

I've always tried to not do backgrounds, simply because I was afraid it would ruin the drawing. But some just look better with one and now I'm behind on my background skills! This was a test to see what would come of it.

Shading white horses is difficult! I managed to get one very good ref pic where the blue and yellow lighting was very clear and I was able to use that on all horses. White is just difficult!!! Give me a black or brown horse any day!
