They seriously do that? Reminds me of a scene in a child's story which I wrote (no mating going on though, lol)....But still very amazing! And I bet even more spectacular to see!! Thanks for sharing that info with me!

I am glad to be of service, Ma'am. Yes, they do. Really. To see that many critters blinking in unison as they do to attract mates is a profound event. There are so many folks aware of this that they book spots to watch a year in advance. The place where the fireflies gather can only hold so many human spectators without interfering with the insect ritual. It is a mecca. Rangers have to be stationed about to do crowd control. THe land is quite fragile...
