Description
Due to the other flowers and seedheads in this area I thought this was a seedhead that this fly was sitting on... Turns out later when I got it home and saw more details, it became clear it was a dead bat. ( and I was up at close range photographing the damned fly). It was really very small though, I really thought it was just a seedhead... ( and granted, there was no odor at all, and probably why too I didn't first put it together... plus the fact no head is visible... Although, looking at it now in the picture it does appear to be an ear there next to the fly? and perhaps a nose down a bit, or part of its' face?
And, the color really threw me, too.
Strange though... I wonder how it got there, just plopped on some Greater Burdock flowers ( which are pretty small flowers! ) like it was, near the lake...

I think it might be one of these guys,.. apparently one of a species of microbats. ( that's why it was so tiny )
