On a specific technical issue: you may be a bit too eager. I cannot tell definitely, but looking close up (you had the kindness to put a very large image) it seems you may be putting some splotches (hehehehe) a little too early, before the adjacent paint isn't dry enough, and in other places, you seem to be doing the opposite but on still virgin paper, which results in sharp delineation where you would really wish for atonement. There a slight stroke of water brush should do the trick. Either after (more difficult but when well done: perfect) or before you even paint in order to create the effect you want. This is clear on the cloud shapes in the middle and the tree line. One last advice is to work with your strokes in a counterintuitive way. Not only as you have brilliantly done to create movement, but in order to position zones against one another, or to manage the overlaps.
Now of course remember that most of the artists that face the challenges do no do what you do: they concentrate their efforts in avoiding such situations at all costs, generally by playing the "minimalist" card, sometimes called the "exotic touch"...
In this picture's specifics, they would probably just have done a couple of ducks under a distant looming sky and clearly above any horizon, maybe using the flight's shadow or reflection to hide the scarcity of it all...
Good work!
