Description

Bình An vương Trịnh Tùng, the real "kingslayer"  , who was the facto ruler of Đại Việt from 1572 to 1623. The Trịnh family wielded the military power of the country and took turns as regents to the figurehead Lê emperor who nominally reigned over the country. The Royal (Trịnh) army defeated the army of the Mạc, Mạc kings were killed, leading up to the end of the North-South Dynasty.


Emperor Lê Anh Tông was overwhelmed by the Trịnh Lords, therefore, Lê emperor planned to constrain the Trịnh Lord's power. Unfortunately, Trịnh Tùng knew that Lê emperor wanted to take him down, he appointed a new emperor Lê Thế Tông (Lê Anh Tông's son), and had the previous king assassinated. In 1600, Lê Kính Tông (Lê Thế Tông' son) became emperor was also assassinated by Trịnh Tùng because of deposing Trịnh Lords.
