Acryl looks more promising than the extremely slow-drying oil.

I've never used oils before, but acrylic works well for me. You just need to be patient with letting the layers dry.

I took an oil class, and it was a nightmare. If you **** up, you wait 4 days until you can paint over your mess.

I recall hearing at some point that you can scrape oil paint away from the canvas to correct a mistake, though I've obviously never been able to try.

Yes, but a highly visible amount still remains. I guess I will end up going digital of something OTHER then oil.

This looks really nice, the picture doesn't do the paint justice, you really do just have to see it in person.

Yeah, and this was one of the better scans, too. This painting didn't even have any fancy effects beyond a very thin glaze of gloss medium over the whole thing (to even out the texture of the paint).
