Commission sketch doodle by *Valkyrie-Girl , design by *tiaamaito .Another in a series of sketches by Valkyrie-Girl, this is a character preview of another important character from my series (though initial design sketch was done by Tiaamaito). Sketched/illustrated above is the Honorable Lady Snow, Kirin from the Land of the Rising Sun (Japan/Nippon - otherwise known as Neighpon, ponified).
The idea behind them was to come up with some sort of Asian pony and I decided to go with the Kirin (half dragon, half pony; considered the 'unicorn' of Asia) for their design, to reflect how they are 'different' than normal ponies (which we can probably relate more to America/the West) while also being more exotic looking like the Chinese-themed deer race in my story.
Some notes on some of the actual scenes depicted:
Cotton Candy and Butterfly - Living in the picturesque land that is her home, she is cutely naive in the ways of the 'modern' world.
Lady Snow and Applejack - Key scene later in the story!
Tea with Celestia - To be explained later in the story, but she has a close friendship with the Sun Princess!
EDIT: Updated with Cutie Mark design! Her cutie mark is that of a Japanese Torii gate (chosen in part because of her duties as a Guardian of the Water Dragon Spirit).

Believe it or not, in my native Korean, we pronounce the species name identically to the Japanese 'kirin'. Even with the rather dark turn of our relations with the idea you're presenting here, it's still kwi yu un (cute), and even I would like to incorporate a part of our cultural elements inside the story if it's not too late.
As isolated as our Joseon/Josaunter was for centuries and still is in our part, this place is turning out to be a great way to learn about the outside world.

I'd argue there's a discrepancy between her being a Chinese qilin (there's a Japanese variant with the "kirin" spelling) and the torii cutie mark, but this still really is a cut above the rest. My compliments.

Lady snow belongs to you yes? I would be honored, to try and create an anthro version of her myself, (simply because I have yet to find an anthro one. I've found an Equestria Girls version, of her as an exchange student, and I've found a humanized version of her, and the Empress, Dao You) if you don't mind, could you send me a PM/note, with a detailed explanation of her appearance? and what her sizes would be for an anthro model (like bust size and such) and then, what attire she'd be wearing? other than that trademark red ribbon? (do keep in mind there's a margin for error, both on physical representation, AND because it's my first attempt at drawing any anthro pony, much less our honorable Lady Snow (whom I love BTW!) so if I don't meet your expectations to 'do her justice' do forgive me, it's a first attempt...) I'd also like a description on what you believe she'd be wearing as an Anthro, other than that lovely Red ribbon around her neck.

I can't help having this odd but cool feeling about a Kirin. They're not like other ponies or any other hoofed beings, they appear more to be dragons.
One other thing, do the Kirins have relatives in the Chinese kingdoms?

Not really, just like how the Japanese and Chinese are two distinct culture. In this case they are both NON-ponies (kiring and deer, respectively). But yeah I really like how this came out, not hoofed beings and not ponies, something totally new ^^

Why Hasbro? Why won't you introduce the other side of the expectrum to the children?!?!?!? Kirins are beautiful and are much more powerful than dragons and phoenix and thats saying something because both of those creatures are sacred in the east!!!

In my fanfic, 8 heroes from Inamorta (the land beyond Equestria) came to Equestria to fight dangerous villains and capture Yokai (Animal Spirits) in order to maintain balance in the new world they walked in.

Your sounds alot more interesting than mine -_- In mine kirins hid themselves from the world because the alicorns could not understand their power and asfter raging war against their creators the alicorns ruled the world under the grip of the dark lord.....Its still a work in progress and celestia is not evil an neither is luna they are just figure heads the council has the tru power....but thats bearly scratching the surface....

Well surprisingly, the 8 heroes that my stories are not ponies at all. They are a group of mercenaries from a world on the other side of Equestria.
The main character I said earlier is a kirin.
His partners are a penguin, a wolf, a crane, a lion, a armadillo, a panda, and a kangaroo.

Yes, I want my fanfic tale to be an interesting story with the 8 heroes having unique abilities.
For example, the kirin named Kenji has two distinctly colored eyes and wields not just a katana called (onimusha) but also use arcane magic which be can formed from his horns. He also can use the magic to shoot arcane arrows from his gauntlet. Unlike the ponies, the 8 heroes have marks on their arms instead of the rear. Kenji's mark is a yin-yang symbol. Personal Voice Actor is (my opinion) Sam Riegal.
Next, the penguin named Travon wields two katars(hand daggars) and is also a cryomancer(ice mage). His mark is a snowflake. Personal Voice Actor is Vic Mignogna.
Then, the wolf named Beowulf wield the lighting halberd and is a thunder mage. His mark is two lightning bolts crossed with each other. Personal Voice Actor is Patrick Seitz.
Later, the crane named Hanzo is a ninja who wields two wakizashi(two japanese short swords) and use a variety of scrolls and other throwing items. He also can use shadow magic(good thing) to help give enemies problems. His mark is a paired combo of a shuriken and kunai. Personal Voice Actor is Troy Baker.
Next, the armadillo named Amadeus is a former Western Outlaw who wields a gunblade and two cowboy revolvers. He can also use metallurgy to aid others. He can turn his own body into certain metals to protect himself or to turn to liquids to either form objects as attacks or get by enemy lines. His mark is a sheriff star badge. Personal Voice Actor is Reubon Langdon.
Then, the lion named Kai is a young prince of his kind and joins the group to ensure relationships with other animals such as ponies. He wields a double bladed voulge(polestaff) and two nunchakus. He is also skilled in martial arts and use a variety of elements(mainly fire) to enhance his attacks. His mark is a king's crown. Personal Voice Actor is Todd Haberkorn.
Later, the panda named Issun is a brute of a bear(largest member of the heroes) who's easy to approach personality is overshadowed by his intimidating appearance. He wields a morningstar (medieval mace) which can extend twenty feet. He also has two turrets(types of cannons) on his back to shoot artillery shells or elemental shots. His mark is a line of bamboo. Personal Voice Actor is Richard Epcar.
Finally, the kangaroo named Ervine is a slick marsupial who is sharp and knows how to deal with anyone that either annoys him or his friends. He wields two flag spears which not only used for attacking, but also for casting artes from his two flags. He also wields ton of boomerangs and a didgeridoo (Australian flute) to confuse any intruders. His mark is an opal stone carved with perfection. Personal Voice Actor is Ted Lewis.
!!!Notice that the creatures that the heroes are represent the seven continents!!! The main character a Kirin is a special case because he help ties the connection between Inamorta and Equestria.

Yeah I noticed that they represent the 7 continents which is what makes it interesting. My story isn't as expansive its mostly symbolic. The main character is the kirin filly who is found by fluttershy. The filly's name is Akemi though the story is about her its mostly about how the mane six react and help shape the new golden age of the planet after big changes come to pass in the story. Government changes new landscapes forgotten histories secret societies and though there isn't any expansive gore there is a bit of blood and genosides..... reason I am not expecific is so that just in case you are interested in reading like I am in yours I dont want to say too much on the story.....I hope you like symbolism and poetry because this story is full of it and everything in it has a part

My story focuses on adventure and visiting Inamorta(the land on the opposite of Equestria).
It also allows the 8 heroes to train Twilight and a lot of her friends to enhance their fighting and magic capabilities since the 8 heroes believed that they will be great help in taking down Garuda(a corrupt dragon shogun) and his three warriors of death. I will explain which characters will be trained by the 8 heroes in the next box.
