Hi Joanne, thank you for the compliments, I know I still have a long way to go to being good, but in love trying so I shall persevere, I'm in Essex, so everything is concrete here haha, I have to hunt to find inspiration. Still even that can be fun. I shall watch out for your future pieces I love to see what others do.

Thank you. I hope to see more of your artwork too. The drawing of that woman you drew from a photo, is really realistic, I'm very impressed. It is hard fitting time to draw in a busy lives schedule, making it hard to see/find the inspiration around you. All the best!

Thanks, it's come along a bit more since I posted that one yet still isn't finished. Your right finding time to do it is a big factor but hey ho. Time to battle on, I'll be in touch in the future.Β

Yes I do really love cats but my hubby won't let me have another one, boo hoo, I've looked at your images on Pinterest they are great, so funny some of them, the only thing I'm scared of is the copyright laws. I'm going to have to track down friends that have cats I think haha just so I can take photos. I shall def be seeing what you do in the future you have an interesting technique that I like.

You are obviously talented and artistic. Where have you been for so long? My one tip for all art is to love the medium as much, if not more than the subject. You are starting along a path which will take you on to making perfect, beautiful drawings of photographs. You will achieve this with comparative ease because you are clever, and you will persevere with the task of intricately copying and shading what you can see. This is admirable, but will only take you so far. If, along the way, you find a passion for those rich, dark swirls, deep shadowy areas, soaring lines, slow, creeping lines, rhythmic, flowing lines, the myriad bursts of trembling, exiting energy which your marker, whatever the tool, is capable of, then you will be an artist. Use movements of the hand and arm, be aware of the friction between graphite and paper, try to avoid 'handwriting mode' until details are required. Β Keep up the good work. Jeff.

Ji Jeff, thank you so much for your kind words, I'm late venturing into art as I worked full time.as a manager and raising 3 children, my husband and I never had time for hobbies but now the kids have grown up and flown the nest I felt a big empty ness that needed filling, so thought I would have a dabble in art, I really enjoy doing it, and if love love love colour but am rather afraid of it too, sounds strange doesn't it? I like to create things that make no sense like my painting on here called my mess haha, because it was just a jumble really but I had fun doing it, your work however is amazing, it would be wonderful to get to your level but I know I have a long way to go along with having a lot of fun in the learning process.

I'm still learning myself at 76, but I've picked up a few things along the way. You can make a mess with most media, for example, watercolour. The thing is that the media usually makes it's own glorious mess. We usually destroy what the media creates by messing about with it afterwards. Let the colour run into other colours, tip the board, add drops of colour, do a bit of swirling if you like but DONT INTERFERE TOO MUCH. See what you have allowed the thing to be, Let it dry and you imagination will set it free. You can then create from what you have. Later, when you use watercolour to add to a drawing, you will have respect for its own innate ability to find it's own way to create lovely effects. Your work will free up. There are no hard and fast rules in Art, if you like it go for it.

This is fabulous. The detail in the fur is beautiful! It almost looks like I could stroke it and it would be all soft and fuzzy. Wonderfully done.Β

Please keep drawing more kitties!!Β

Hi, other than just messing about like with the fox cubs that I just gave to my grandson yes it's my first serious try at doing a realistic picture, I've only ever really just mucked around with doodles etc but never put my mind to it, I've had more experience with paints than pencils and even then I've only done 5 or 6 of them.

Thank you, I had a mess around with some fox cubs but that was for my grandson and not a serious try, I'm happier with this one, but would like to know if there are any mistakes and another set of eyes really help.

i believe i see what you mean with the eyes - the problem doesn't seem to be too much that the eyes are wrong or there are any mistakes, but that the eyes do not appear symmetrical and don't appear to belong.

remember; Art isn't about being perfect. it's about knowing when to abandon it when you are satisfied

I really don't know what to say since I'm not much of a drawer, but all I can say is you really captured the details of its face well.
