Description Study finds religion actually tends to make kids less generous

“Our findings contradict the common-sense and popular assumption that children from religious households are more altruistic and kind toward others,”

"In addition to the testing, the parents of the children filled out questionnaires detailing their religious practices and beliefs, with the families being categorised into three groups: Christian, Muslim, or non-religious. Other religious groups were also present, but not in statistically significant proportions for the purposes of the study.

What the researchers found is that the religious children were significantly less likely to share their stickers than the kids from non-religious backgrounds. This non-altruistic behaviour was also more pronounced in children who had been exposed to religion for a longer time, although all the kids in the study in general showed more inclination to share as they grew older.

The religious kids were also more likely to favour stronger punishments for the anti-social behaviour and interpersonal harm they witnessed in the animations – and were harsher in their judgment than non-religious children when it came to assessing the meanness of characters onscreen bumping into one another. If they all are exists. Odin, Ra and Zeus and all other older gods in other native myths are may be much more better, nicer and benign than Yahweh/Allah so far if consider what this angry old man jealous god done, speak, and thought or view on all others around him. This abrahamic god are goes so far from all others.
Odin, yes, a warlike paranoid, but he were right in the sense of ending or preventing the Ragnarok, like knowledge and wisdom and enjoy to share them with others (humans), don't enforce the laws of his own standards upon everyone, never claims of being all-knowing deity, sacrifices himself for getting the Rune knowledge to share it to others, and does truly loves and care of his sons deeply. Zeus, yes, a hot-headed womanizer pervert asshole, but at least sometime, he's truly loves and cares of his children or maybe others as well deeply, cares of women and see them as living beings not dirts if he love them, and have punishes the really evil sometimes.
Yahweh/Allah, on the other hand, claims of being the most morally PRFECT godly being ever, claims of being all-powerful omnipotent and all-knowing (all-wise, all-seeing) omniscient, claims of being the one who creates the universe and everything, but DO NOTHING to prevent countless suffering and pain of all beings that they faces because all of them are just merely his entertainment. Says and claims that the earth is a flat while in reality it isn't. Claims knows everything, rise critically doubt him or die and burn in hell. Have all powers and knowledges, but choose to sits in his divine throne and watch everyone suffered or agonize them more instead of help them totally. Claims as the sole only one "true" god out of all deities exists before him. Kills and causing the genocides/omnicide against millions (or even billions and trillions) of people and near all life on the whole planet by the worldwide great flood. Creates hell for burn all who disagree and refuse to worship forever, and make them suffered and agonize more worse all the time. Creates heaven hard to go and to seduce and indulge most people trapped in the delusional, fake happiness and being careless in life. Have the ancient different religious books full of killing, wars, atrocities, abuses, genocides, and contradictions and etc. Wait the time of Revelation (Apocalypse, the complete final destruction of the world, the end of the world) to return in the world and don't prevent it, and have kills so much people's lives around the world again anew, and rules it forever alone. Hate women and often blames on women for many matters, and see them all as dirts or inferior to him and men. Makes and enforce the laws of his own standards upon everyone of humans and they must have to follows all its words, and if they don't follow it, kills and tortures them all for eternity. Sacrifices his own only one son, who is also "himself", to death for his own mistakes. Sacrifices himself for/to himself, in order to save humans from himself, and save himself from himself. Cares and loves of himself only. Hates the wisdom and knowledge, want all his believers stuck in the ignorance, curses anyone who sharing or giving the wisdom and knowledge to most others. Creates the ancient barbaric Stone & Bronze Ages' religious laws,.. that enforce on everyone in all directions, all sides, everywhere, every place, every time and every eras, and the entire humanity must have to follow and obey all its commands. Worship, have faith in and believe in him or die brutally. Declares everyone who disagrees with him as evil and abomination, and sends them all to hell forever. Doesn't interact with the mortal world, did it once and had endless countless religious wars. His religions caused the Dark Age and many other events, and millions and billions of deaths of innocents (either civilians and soldiers). Claims as the Virgin Deity but have Jesus as his only son by Virgin Mary as his mortal wife (pregnant by the power of the Holy Spirit aka Yahweh himself). Wrote his own laws that must be followed to the letter. Man is accountable to this jealous God. If he is not perfect according to his standards, he suffers everlasting torment by cruel serious punishments. Loves his creation,...in the way we love fictions, TV shows and Video Games as the Entertainment. As an angry old man god who named Yahweh/Allah mean Jealous whose have sex problems, whose sex issues are solved with forcing virginity/chastity on people of his own creation. And many more.... So much for being the loving, peaceful, good, merciful, just god and victim.

Well, when you are teaching children that even the most minor of transgressions from the laws set by your deity results in "Eternal Punishment & Suffering" are you surprised that they tend towards stronger punishments?

lisa-im-laerm In reply to t-subgenius [2016-04-23 08:44:23 +0000 UTC]

Nope, that's right. Makes sense, that they tend to be more cruel, when they see also a man constantly hanging on a cross and bleeding... and nobody helps him out

Come on now, Jesus Hyena far more forgiving.  There are no contradictory stories or rules to follow, he wants a huge hunk of meat and then you are forgiven (until he is hungry again.)

Well, he is much like Cthulhu in that he saves his followers for later.

Better than human Jeebus and the whole obsession with feeding you his body and blood (always found that kinda creepy.)

Cause it is creepy cannibalism, simply!

"Now if I made a twisted bread and covered it with marinara sauce each year to symbolize my son's umbilical cord for his birthday, for example, and we all sat around and ritualistically tore off small pieces and ate them while thinking directly about my son's umbilical cord, I think you'll agree that eating that would have a very different meaning/significance than eating some cake.

When I eat my son's birthday cake I'm not imagining it as a part of his body. I'm imagining it the same way I'm seeing it pragmatically: as cake.

Catholics are asked to view the bread and wine as Jesus' body and blood specifically. They aren't asked to just have a bite of food together as a remembrance. They are asked specifically to visualize that they are eating/drinking Jesus' body and blood. "This IS my body." "This IS my blood."
