Now that's what I like, the chu family just enjoying themselves together. Also, while I never liked the idea of Pikachu surfing on a surfboard since Raichu and Alolan Raichu surfing on their own tail is so much cooler, in this one I don't mind at all.

If you're refering to the show with Pikachu having some sort of powers to sense waves, I can get behind it. However, in this one Pikachu simply surfed with his trainer rather than used move "surf" where he summons surfboard out of nowhere like in the game. At least Raichu doesn't need to summon non-existing objects to the battle as he can surf on its own tail, but Pikachu gets special threatement.

Still, the sad part about this is that Alolan Raichu in the game apperantly can't learn move surf, he can use it ONLY if Pikachu know move surf and evolve into it. To add salt to the injury, in Ultra Sun/Moon you can get Pikachu with move "Surf" by winning Meantine's surfing, but he can't evolve. In a game featuring Alolan Raichu, you can get Pikachu with "Surf" that refuse to evolve, and then you add Pikachu's village atop that as if Alolan Raichu wasn't overshadowed enough.

Even in the show Alolan Raichu barely gets the screen time, and instead of cool "surf on water" which this pokemon just begged for, we got Pancake race with Pikachu vs Raichu theme behind it, and Pikachu manage to draw, how humiliating is that? And even when Hau gets Alolan Raichu, he do it way too late and nothing comes out of it. It is just sad.

This is why I dislike Pikachu on a surfboard so much, but on your art I don't mind at all because they all just look like they are enjoying themselves, no rivalthy or Raichu being overshadowed.

"(Not that its surprising, Raichu never really got the spotlight)"

The irony is that in the show, they tried to show Pikachu as the underdog overcoming his stronger evolution, but in reality Raichu was always the underdog. Always in the shadow of pokemon mascoth, displayed as slower and less agile (even though size rarely affects pokemon's agility, like when Onix or Snorlax evades attacks and stuff), in fact, Raichu is faster than Pikachu stats-wise.

While Pikachu gets to do epic stuff, even defeating legendary pokemon in 1vs1 battle or beating 2 pseudo-legendary pokemon in a row, Raichu barely can get anything done (if Pikachu can defeat Regice in 1vs1 battle, wouldn't it be logical for Raichu to defeat Mewtwo in 1vs1 fight? Yeah, like that would ever happen).

In any case, since Raichu is my fave pokemon, I wrote MLP/Pokemon crossover with Raichu as main character to show Raichu in a better light. The story was well-received, so I am glad about it. There's never enough love for the poor underdog.
