Description
It’s been a ride. A very pleasant and fun one, too. But here we are – eventually my very last illustration of Mana and Seiya ♥ Those of you who probably read the afterword of Kaleidoscope and wondered whether and why that would be the last sketch artbook on the two characters. The answer to the first question is a >yes< and here comes the >why<.
Well, Kaleidoscope felt like a good conclusion to the pairing of Mana & Seiya for me.
Just as icing on the cake, I decided to make a last illustration where I would include many of the things I like drawing – 80ties aesthetic of city lights, a night sky, female characters with their faces in profile, eyes closed and almost kissing, looking delicate and floating wavy hair ♥
Don’t get me wrong – Seiya will always be special to me and that won’t change. Working on a story where Seiya was one of the main leads was what started my art journey to begin with. I began to be more consistent in sketching and enjoyed character development over fanart more and more. Mana grew to be an independent character with her own story and separate world quite fast and Seiya stopped to fit in anymore. It’s been this way for quite a while, too. With Seiya I am back to basics now – I am free to ship her with Usagi without Mana in the back of my mind judging and being jealous XDD ♥ And I am excited to draw Mana’s original story where I don’t have to partially force her to fit into a different universe and finally with characters that are all originally mine. ♥
Nonetheless, I have only fond memories of Mana x Seiya and feel grateful and lucky about the artistic journey they caused. ♥ It’s simply that I moved on as an artist. But I hope that those of you who read so far will keep on accompanying me, even if the direction of my illustrations is changing. Thank you very much for everything! ♥
Goodbye, Mana to Seiya.
