My entry for *frosk s tea contest! It's such a nice theme for a contest I couldn't resist
I had this idea to make a little postcard in an art nouveau style, since tea reminds me of art nouveau
just me then. It was hard to colour this since I had no idea what I was doing, in the end I just went with lots of textures to add some depth 
To be honest the whole thing was just blind experimentation after I finished the lineart, no plan whatsoever. I wasn't sure about the washed out colours, but I hardly ever do anything soft & muted so I sort of like how it's turned out. Not much else to say, except she's meant to be blowing the steam away (that's why she's making that funy face 
)All the writing & the paper tex in the background are from =resurgere

Since I don't know the art style I can't crit anything, but I like the colors and the texture.

This looked fine as a lineart but I thought I'd end up ruining it when I coloured it, so I'm glad you said those were nice

Do you keep copies of your lineart?
Because if I'm not sure how to color a pic, I make a copy of the lineart first and try the colouring on the copy to save the lineart.

Since I do a lot of my stuff digitally (this one included) I never have to worry about wasting my lineart
When I colour traditionally, depending on how confident I am that I'm not gonna mess it up with colour, sometimes I'll scan the lineart & print it back out onto a good sheet of paper & colour the printout instead. Sometimes it pays to be careful!

If ya want one you should get one! They're not always expensive! Mine cost about £60 (about 85 euros I think..) when I bought it 4 years ago, & there are definitley cheaper tablets than this one. One of the best things I've ever bought since I use it so much now, digital is fun
I remember colouring with a mouse, it was really annoying cos I couldn't get anything to stay in the lines >.< lol!

The border is awesome! the little tea cups? what an amazng bit of composition! you got some good stuff in that ole noggin of yours!
i like the colours, it reminds me, of well tea O_O which i think is the whole point of the piece! yah? :le shrug: the black body bits make me thinks she is a witch ^_^ but the body shape reminds me of the blog things form howls infact maybe the lady is rather sinister O_Owhat with her steamy tea and the fat you cant see all her face! ^___^ but i loves it!
The writing in the Bg make me feel like this would be a perfect invitation to a tea party!
i LIKE the colouring the translucent effect makes me think the whole piece is made from different colour tea ^__^

The tea cups in the border were a little bit of a last minute thing, gawd am I glad I added them they make it look much nicer I think ^^ & the tea colours, she was actually a really dark brown with really orange background & hair, until I was playing around with textures & set one of them to a different layering mode & it made everything this nice pinkish shade...probably the happiest accident I've ever had cos I love the colours on this now
& you is GEEENIUS for the sinister lady thing! I hadn't even noticed but it's wonderful! She DOES look like a witchy, & with the magic like smoke & how you can't see her eyes...wow you're super clever. You saw that & I didn't & I drew the lady! I likes it much more now she's a bit scary
