I bought a nifty illustrated novel recently (as opposed to a graphic novel) called 'The Plucker', by Brom. Sadly, no one I know seems to have heard of it, so I am alone in my fangirliness. Ah, well. I really like it, though, it's sort of like 'Toy Story' meets 'The Crow'.This is the main hero. His name is Jack. Jack woke up one morning to find that he'd been tossed under the bed with all the other forgotten toys, because the little boy who owns him decided he was a little kid's toy. What's worse, the other toys refuse to associate with Jack now that he's an 'Underbed' toy. Poor, abandoned Jack. All alone with the dust and darkness. Too bad he's about to find out that there are things Underbed much, much scarier than spiders and dustbunnies.

You are not alone in your love for The Plucker I literally checked it out last week and finished it in a night and a morning, and when I was only halfway through the book, I was like "That does it, better get a copy for myself before I go nuts!"

AHHH! It's wonderful! The Plucker is the most wonderfully gruesome book. But did you know he's coming out with his own version of Peter Pan in August? He titled it 'The Child Theif' and I can already tell it's gonna be amazing!

Same here! I am mainly a sucker for the ones that are gruesome. I have a very twisted love of children tales. But I love the original ones a lot too. Like in the original version of The Little Mermaid, the prince marries someone else and her sisters tempt her to murder him with a dagger but she jumps off a cliff and turns into sea foam instead. And in Cinderella, the step-sisters cut off their toes and heels to fit their foot into the glass slipper. And it explicitly says how the shoe filled up with blood and was dripping everywhere. Yup. Gotta love the originals.

I picked the book up yesterday, read it through as soon as I got home, and have had "pop goes the weasle" running in my head ever since. Probably the best book I've read in a while.

It's a pretty awesome book... I especially enjoy getting my friends to read the part where the Hula doll gets disemboweled, just to see their reactions. XD Thanks for the comment!

The detail is amazing, the coloring and shading beutifuly done, and i knew it was Jack just by seeing it out of the corner of my eye. And no worries, i also share your fan-girliness of 'the plucker' and i'm driving my friends crazy telling them about it ^_^

Angel wasn't bad, although her character was kind of flat. Mind you, at least there was an explanation as to why, which I really enjoyed. ^^
