"WTF is this crap?" I hear you ask yourself... well its my first go at using Flash alone.Im not happy with the results fo Im going to continue with my old way of doing animations.

The head does seem a bit large, but I still really am digging the movement of the legs.

Very nice! Flash is such a pain in the butt...what were you using before? I want to get rid of Flash...>.< Awesome job, despite Flash's....difficulties...

I usually use Paintshop pro7 + animation shop 3 (which came with psp7), then Id export the frames into flash to save them in .swf format

Ah, looks preety darn snazzy to me! Nice smooth animation, with correct leg movement. Awesome work! Pickles moves preety fast for one with such stubby legs.

Oye Flash... it's so not meant for frame-by-frame animations like you've been doing. It needlessly complicates the process. Sure, people can do cool stuff with it, but it really wasn't meant for this kind of animation.

I dig how the tail flipps about.. But you might need to re-work the head a little.. It kind of does two little jerks foreward.. It would be perfect if the head moved in a more smooth, circular motion..

This is awesome for a first try. Flash is a very good program; just because your first try didn't turn out that great doesn't mean you should give up. You've got a lot of heart and promise. Adobe Photoshop 7.0 arrived at the same time as my Wacom tablet, and it took me three solid weeks to get anything remotely passable out of it. Stick with it, I"d hate to see someone as good as you give up because of a new way of doing things.

Thats true, and in the right hands it can be an awsome peice of software
I definately prefer trancefering frames from PSP into Flash instead of using Flash alone (that way I can use layer etc

You told me this would be crap! I'm looking at it... yes its got errors... but this is your first try in flash, and it looks pretty darn good for your first try. You shouldn't just give up on it, unless you really hated doing the flash. Overall, I think it looks pretty good. The head seems to be sliding back and forth, which looks sorta odd... but all in all, a nice first try in flash!

Yeah that head ought to be 'nodding' as the neck streches instead of just moving forward *hasnt learned how to do that yet :3*

You are right, it's way inferior to your other animations. If you have a system that works already, and you have no driving desire or need to change that system, than do what works best for you and don't rely completely on flash. But if you really think it's important to learn, by all means don't give up and you may have to produce a few things you don't really like before you learn the ropes.
As for this guy, he isn't smooth at all, his whole body is lurching. Also it looks like he's leading wih his head and it's impotant to remember that donkey's like horses get their power from their hind legs. Those back legs should be popelling him forward and right now it looks as though they are just trailing behind the massive weight of his head. Better luck next time! I'm sure you'll fix him up nicely!

I WOULD like to learn Flash, but I only think I'd use it to add sound and compress future animations (which I hope will be alot longer than those I've uploaded here).
I'll keep playing about with it, but I doubt I'll be attempting anything serious with it
I'am SO looking forward to getting some animation books for christmas... I desperately need them XD
