Haha I know, it doesn't make sense but I can explain ! 
That's because he was super upset. He just wanted to show Raph that he can play football. So he just threw the ball without thinking. Obviously, he didn't mean to hurt Donnie.
That's also because I wanted to team up Donnie with Leo and Raph with Mikey. I wanted Leo to hurt Donnie in a way or another. No harm done though. ^^
