Think about it, Ash is surrounded by these hot girls (Misty, May, Dawn), and he never makes a move. Especially Dawn, she was madly in love wih him but he didn't even notice.
As for Gary, he spends far more time with Ash than wtith those cheerleaders that usually follow him.
