Description ooooh more dinos in my living aircraft world! and they're even a size reference made via mspaint!

so, like i said in my mesozoic survivors post , there are other species of mesozoic animals that survived up to modern day albeit in a much smaller quantity (Both in species count and populations), including descended of the two most iconic dinosaur groups: The Tyrannosaurids and Cerotopsians.
even as their niches started to get filled with newer mammals and better-adapted dinosaur species, the tyrants and the trikes still had a good hold on their existence right up until the ice age which did a complete number on their populations and reduced them down to only certain parts of northest amerigia.

so now we get into this excuse to post something dino-related on #dinocember :

TOP:
in the temperate rainforests of rhadnol, an great imperator ambushed a sub-adult bearbull, catching it off guard. however, the bearbull is not one to go out without a fight, and is armed with two bull-like horns and a powerful bite that can easily crush the predator's bones.

bearbull
the bearbull is the last ceratopsian to have a hold on the megaherbivore niche. it is one of rhadnol's largest land animals, only second to the rhadnol elephant (subspecies of amerigian/american mastodon ). they earn their name due to having cattle-like horns and their naturally territorial behaviors, hence being "More danger than a bear".
bearbulls are obviously herbivores, being grazers that eat low-lying vegetation. they are solitary animals, only ever found alone or in mating pairs. they only lay 2-3 eggs at a time, and are very, very protective of their young, able to chase off most predators just by intimidation alone. of course this protection last only a year or so before being chased off by the mother and father, by then the offspring are sub-adults are are large enough to fend for themselves.

great imperator
the main predator of the bearbull, the great imperator is a tyranosaurid who, much the bearbull, is the last t-rex relative to hold onto that "apex predator" niche, albeit being reduced to the size of a horse.
great imperators, no surprise, are carnivores. they actually eat a wide variety of animals, ranging from the aforementioned bearbull and surviving mastodons, to the native spadeheads , to even attempting to catch salmon during their spawning season. they will even go as far as to steal the kill of smaller carnivores. surprisingly, in spite of being a territorial animal, they are actually more scared of elkinets than the airplanes are of them. whilst commonly hunting alone, they live in pairs that mate for life, and they rear only 1-2 young at a time.

BOTTOM:
a small male brown feathersnuff is quietly scurrying in the grass of the great plains of northest amerigia, when it accidentally wander too close to a prairie nanolodon's burrow. the male, not too pleased with a potential predator near his and his mate's nest, jumps out to defend it home and young.

feathersnuff
the feathersnuff in general are the great imperator's tinier, much more widespread and adaptable cousin. they can be found in the almost all N.O. ameriga's habitats (as well as a bit into Naveloon), with many different species existing (such as the brown feathersnuff depicted here).
one of the biggest assets to the feathersnuff's adaptability is it's diet; whilst primarily a carnivore that eats small animals like rodents, birds, and snakes, at least 10-30% of it diet (depending on the subspecies and habitat) is plant materials like fruits, nuts, seeds, etc.. they do not mate for life, rather the male will make a cute/annoying little screeching noise that alot like a screaming hairy armadillo (go google it, it funny as shit). that, and of course doing cute little dances.

nanolodon
the nanolodon, much like the feathersnuff, it the only other ceratopsian left on argonus thought making the best of it thanks to (of course) it's high adaptability. also like the feathersnuff, there are many different species spread out across N.O. amerigia and parts of naveloon.
unlike their island relatives, they are full-on omnivores that consume anything they find edible. from fallen fruits, to tuber, to roadkill, to trash, to basically anything that goes along the lines of "if it doesnt cause me great pain i'll do it again". they are also aggressive, especially if food and/or young are tossed into the mix. however, they do mate for life and build small burrow every year to raise 3-5 young at a time. also they have long, quill-like feathers for intimidation and a scaly tail that protects them from both predators and other nanolodons that chase them away.

and for any speculative evolutionist /paleonerds out there wondering the exact ancestor to these survivors: the cenozoic tyrannosaurs are believed to be descendants of appalachiosaurus while the ceratopsians are from an as-yet-to-be-known species of chasmosaurine .
