Description decided to try and clear some space in my stash today.

every speculative evolutionist's favorite book, "the new dinosaurs: an alternate evolution" is a classic. I even have the book myself that i got for my birthday once. any of Dougal Dixon's spec evo books are a good read if you're into spec evo. if you need more info, here's the spec evo wiki's page on it .

so, I decided to give the dinosaurs in the book my own redesign (except for the okapteri, that's completely fan-made). i tried sticking to the original material as close a possible. here are the creatures in order:

-okapteri, a fan-made relative of the lank that converges onto okapis (like the lank does with our modern giraffes). also, all of the pterosaurs I drew are meant to be azhdarchid descendants.

-flarp, a ratite-like flightless pterosaur. i decided to keep the flightless pterosaurs bipedal like they are in the book, even though it's unlikely that pterosaurs would be bipedal if became flightless. furthermore, if they WERE to become bipedal, it's more than likely they'd walk on their forelimbs than their hindlimbs like the books (this was also at a time when we though pterosaur were bipedal like birds to begin with).

-flurrit, a gliding species of small theropods, in this case the arboreal group known as the "abrosaurs". to hold the gliding membrane, i gave it a longer finger not unlike a pterosaur's wing finger.

-common waspeater, or just the waspeater in the book. not much done here besides giving it some feather since it's also an abrosaur and I'd like to think that abrosaurs came from maniraptoran theropods (which are just covered in them most of the time). I also made it's mouth less like an anteater's and more of a hoopoe's, since again it made a little more sense.

-coneater and jinx, a predator-prey relationship that involves the jinxs hiding amongst coneaters so they can catch them by surprise. coneaters are hypsilophodontids, while jinxes were dromaeosaurs, which i kept both of. i would like to point out that, while yes the jinx could play among us to catch a meal, I'd like to think they'd also hunt other prey without the need to play imposter.

-harridan, the hardest one to redesign because i genuinely loved it's design in the books, and it's my favorite overall animal in the book. but, i did manage to make it work out.

-treepounce, the honest-to-god worst looking dinosaur in the book. i think i did it a favor by giving this feline-mimic a more natural dromaeosaur look instead of it being a bald man wearing a fur coat.

-kloon, another flightless pterosaur, this time being on new Zealand and acting as the little kakapo/kiwi of the place. unlike the flarp, it has lost it's forelimbs completely and instead uses it's two remain limbs to manipulate objects. i wasn't a fan of it's design, mainly the teeth, so i gave it a proper beak like i did with the flarp.

so, just another quick post here.
