Description
On the left, you can see Charles Darwin holding an Angraecum sesquipedale flower and his most famous book - "On the origin of species by means of natural selection". On the right, you can see Kliment Timiryazev, another great biologist and a major proponent of Darwin's evolution theory in Russia (unfortunately, he is much less known). The book that Timiryazev is holding is called "The historical method in biology". On his shoulder a little skylark is sitting. Next to the Timiryazev's right hand, there is a Xanthopan morganii moth, the existence of which was predicted by Darwin himself. By the way, Darwin and Timiryazev actually met once, it was quite a touching story.
The Northern Shoveler looking at the picture of a whale refers to one paragraph in Darwin's book, where he compared the structure of this duck's beak to the whalebone.
And a tiger... makes no sense, actually. It is there simply for decorative purposes ))
