Description blue baptism
Description: The Greek word used for baptism,
'baptizo' means to immerse, submerge . . .
- to overwhelm.

Baptism has the connotations of:
to be soaked in liquor (intoxicated)
to be sunk in ignorance
to be bathed in tears

i see it as initiatory -
to immerse in water
is to commune symbolically
with the dead -
to be buried
to be cleansed
to return to life.

What an absolute excellent photo, it's so mystical..The frozen drops of water combined with the overall blue of the photo..Almost like we're witness to a miracle - the water just stopped mid-air!

Heh.

what a ding dong . . . i hate when i have several windows open
and answer the WRONG ONE
what i meant to volunteer was this info about the shot:
AV: f8
SS: 1/1000
EV: 0.0
ISO: 100
i used a mounted flash that i took out of the hotshoe
and hand-held at the side of the fountain in near darkness

How did you get enough light at that high of a shutter speed to get the drops. You had to have used 1000 or more for your shutter.

Nice though. I've always wanted to have something lke that in the packground of a portrait...a true capture of a single moment in time.

I love the clarity of the drops and, of course, the colour. What makes this piece so remarkable is the perspective, though. It's like tears moving backwards, back into the eye...

this shot is beautiful, the three rows of wterdrops express a great parallelism that would be obvious if the shot was upright, but with this perspective it's fantastic....
