I love mermaids without tails, too, for pretty much the same reason~ Plus the ocean's their natural home, no need to explain their existence from a human's limited experience by adding tails, because then you just drag up all sorts of other questions, like...how they reproduce--probably they have a queen capable of promoting the population or chalk it up to magic, after all, they can breath underwater, let's not limit them with human logic. XD
