Description It smelled like the valley:
green,
rain,
water,
evergreens.
It was very damp…
I was at Sahalie
Falls in May, and
there was that drizzly kind
of rain that
settles
into your bones.
You couldn’t hear
anything
but the roar of the waterfall and
the utter silence
of a sound
within a
sound.

I agree with him up yonder.
I can imagine the description sounding like the sounds you describe.
Does that make sense?

I love how it addresses the senses completely and gives you the entire experience without dragging on and on.

It sounds great out loud, and the last four lines are amazing. For anyone who's ever been at the top of a mountain or next to a pounding waterfall, they bring up exactly how it feels to be so overwhelmed by nature that there nothing, nothing else, not even yourself.

Wow. Thank you so much. That's probably one of the best, nicest compliments I've ever recieved on a piece of work. I'm glad that you see all of that in this piece...the feelings you pointed out were what I was trying to capture, but I was definitely unsure with how well this portrayed that feeling.Thank you so much for the input.

I think I got it so well because I've tried to write poems exactly like this more than once. Thanks for doing it for me!

Lately I've gotten really into listening to nature. Not just what other animals have to say, but trees and streams and rocks and dirt and so on. It's easiest when you're someplace you can forget yourself and stop thinking for at least a few minutes. Maybe someday I'll remember how to talk to them, too.

*big grin* Thanks! (And you're welcome I guess )

I wish I had more time to...it's so serene when you can just sit and lose yourself in it. It's one of those rare times when you can just forget about it all...which is oddly therapeutic.
