Day 26's theme is abandoment, I think technically an idea I had for Keith's final foster family could have worked here but I went with this instead.

As mentioned before alternate Voltron Shiro met Keith as a kid & then remet him at the Garrison. Shiro & Ryou met Keith due to him staring at them from outside the place Shiro & Ryou were taking martial arts at. As mentions/shown in a sketch dump Keith's dad is actually his mom disguised as a human while Krolia is his dad, through some weirdness put in Alternate Voltron someone had managed to leave stasis pods for Keith's mom & infant Keith. I'm not going to ramble on but Keith's mom knew something bad would happened & told him a war was going to happen. After losing his mom & being stuck in the foster system Keith kind of shut down & went into a dazed state as he tried to prepare for the war his mom told him about. He met Shiro thanks to constantly watching him at his martial art classes before eventually asking him to teach him.

Shiro did his best to help Keith before managing to get past Keith's mental walls & becoming friends with him, Ryou would tag along & they all became close. Keith had this thing were he kept going partly into his Galra/Altean form so he hid under a large hoodie. The brothers lost contact with Keith because their parents found out his faster father would yell at him & cause him into his dazed state in an attempt to cope & ignore him so they called CPS. Shiro met Keith again in the Garrison & Ryou just so happened to be Keith's roommate at the Garrison. When Shiro left for the Kerberos Mission he asked Ryou to keep an eye on Keith while he was away as he felt like something bad would happen.

I say all this to go into the theme for this pic, in Alternate Voltron there's a large resistance that often works with the Blade with some Galra resistance members being in the Blade. Some how some resistance members ended up on Earth & Ryou ended up joining the team on Earth. Ryou when not working on his Garrison work Ryou was busy helping work with the resistance to prepare for Zarkon. Ryou felt ashamed when Keith got kicked out, he felt as though he abandoned Keith as he let his work get in the way of making sure Keith wasn't alone especially after how the Garrison dealt with the disappearance of the Kerberos team. Ryou wishes he could fix what he caused but he can't find Keith anymore & 3 other students have gone missing, he has a lot of work to deal with now but he's been working on making sure he made time for helping his team out especially after neglecting his brother-in-law.
