Description After reading the Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, I wondered HOW on EARTH they got the half-mask/half face deformed idea. I guess I have to read more books.. anyway--- After reading the book I had a dream and this is what he looked like. I tried to keep Gerard Butlers base/mien to it because I believe he is the perfect Phantom.. even if he is a hunk and our O.G.'s the embodiment of death it's self... He act's/sings just like I invision the Trap-Door-Lover. He's perfect.

O.G.(c) Gaston Leroux

Yay! Someone else who's favorite Phantom is Gerard Butler!

You did a great job here! He really looks like Leroux's Phantom mixed with Mr. Butler's Phantom.

The story behind the change is actually amusing.

You obviously know the Phantom mask for the stage show and the original versions is a full face mask. That's the mask everyone recognizes. Well, that WAS to be the original mask, and he was supposed to be originally deformed in the stage production. But the make up to create the deformity plus the mask got in the way of Michael Crawford's singing so they had to change it up to allow their star to actually sing his role.

I think you did very well on this picture, t does really look like Gerald butler combined with the book version.(:

And as for why they did the half mask, it's pretty simple. On the stage they couldn't convey emotion well enough with just the mouth and eyes so they did the easiest thing and cut halfof it off.

Even though the original Erik is supposed to have a voice of incredible beauty and power, said to resemble an angel's, and can sing, rather unlike Mr. Butler? I'm sorry, but Gerik doesn't even come close to Erik in singing.

Otherwise, if you want to go more book remember this: thin to the point of emaciation. And no nose. (Mmm...no nose...yum!)

I've never read the book, so I don't know the description, but I like what you've come up with! It does look like a half-face half-mask.
