HIGH RESOLUTION FILE ON MY PATREONI just rewatched this incredible series and it broke my heart all over again.
While I admit that this show started-out a bit 'campy', Merlin evolved into a story of love, trust, and devotion that I can only hope to recreate in my own stories. The dynamic between Arther and Merlin is so flawlessly executed. So much so, that I really found myself falling in love with these characters all over again, even 7 years later.
Thank you Merlin for a magical 5 seasons!

I felt the same about the show, starting off it took a little getting used to but it really evolved into such a great tale. I just recently rewatched the series myself after many years not seeing it and I still love it as much as I used to. Very great amazing work!

AHHHH I LOVED THIS SHOW!!!!! BEST EVER ALONG WITH ATLA!!!!!!!! And I agree, the growth and development of Merlin and Arthur came about quite naturally. It was a well-directed and scripted show that had just a ball of awesomeness to it! On that note, TCM has a very magical and realistic/natural flow to it as well. The way you developed your own characters and how they each have a set of unique characteristics about them and how they interact throughout the story with others as well as their environment is a truly well thought out story! And, of course, your artwork is absolutely stunning and enjoyable to look and marvel at, the colors and techniques you use to help bring what you imagine to life are really amazing and inspiring.Β

I loved that series! I think they did Morgana dirty though, so many things could of changed for the better had certain characters been nice to her and showed her love, and I'm still sticking to the theory that the wise dragon has had ill intent the whole time.

I completely agree (about Morgana). I think she, especially in the finale, was disregarded as the complex character she was. That was perhaps my biggest criticism of the show.
As for Kilgarrah, he was definitely a biased voice (with several occasions of bad advice), but I'm not convinced he was totally evil. I suppose his interests just didn't always align with the human's.

Uther Pendragon was Lawful Stupid, a poor father, and an evil jerk.Β Morgana was a screwy, psycho cow!Β Too many people feared magic for too many unjust reasons than otherwise, and insistence on adhering to a predetermined "destiny" is way too omnipresent for my liking!Β I wanted to love this show but aside from a few small moments I couldn't bring myself to!Β

Agree to disagree, I guess. Uther and Morgana were cruel, no doubt, but I thought their motivations were creatively justified in the canon. That's not to say they weren't hypocritical, bitter, even evil characters. They absolutely were. I just think the way in which they were written was plausible.
As for the 'destiny' part of it, I agree that it was a bit heavy-handed in the first two seasons. I guess being a story about Arthurian myth, they had to adhere to the basic notions of myth, destiny, and legend. The definition of Merlin's destiny (and indeed outcome) evolved as the seasons progressed to be a more subtle, clever bit of writing.
Again, that's just my opinion. It's certainly not for everyone

I certainly didn't appreciate how quickly Morgana was willing to turn her back on those she once called friend, just because some blonde witch told her to.Β And Uther's prioritization of ego and pride over the well-being of Camelot's people irked me greatly, especially when he wreaked havoc as a ghost.Β
