Either Ari was one big a** baby or that was a very small baby whale

The two panels with the whales near the bottom are very well done and interesting.

Lol!
I could see why things have changed. He was probably hoping to set Kira free from Rikus by letting him kill him, hence the exchange.

All is explained. Now, back to the fray... nervous now.
It seems that for the three races on Asteryn to survive, Rikus HAS to bow to love, and give his life-force to Kira. He will redeem himself in that one act of love, and save everyone else. Now I know he is just not altruistic at all (lol right), but he might do this for Kira. And we're all better of without him anyway.
Now, assuming this is what will happen, will Ari and Kira have extended life-spans? Wondering because what would happen when they both eventually die? The situation would be the same as it is now wouldn't it?

There's still quite a bit of story left to tell. All I can say is that we'll just have to wait and see how this all plays out.

And thus there would be balance of light and dark.

Ari was completely resigned to die, but now that Kira's gone, things became complicated again.

The line between good and evil has been very thinned out. Eventually there is no good or evil, just choices that can either harm or heal.

That's exactly how I intended it. I really do believe that there is never any definite good or evil. There is only ever a spectrum.

Not on purpose. Remember the whale never intentionally gave Ari this power. It's only after the whale realized his mistake that Ari was dragged into this. It was never intentional.

that would sort of make Ari the whale's horcrux...speaking of which, does that mean Ari would be able to return as a normal alae later?

If Rikus were to destroy the light within him, that would end his life. The light is the only thing keeping him alive, ever since he was a child. If it's snuffed out, Ari won't survive.

What I meant was, they gave ari the tear, knowing he was going to die later on. But they didn't tell him that when they gave him the tear. So it was just like, they set him up for slaughter

Well, Ari and the whale went into the battle planning to both die and in doing so, killing Rikus. They hope that with the Gods dead, the races would survive to cohabitant peacefully. At this point though, there was still the possibility that destroying Rikus would kill the human race, but that could also be part of a misunderstood myth.
There were so many unknown variables that they just came up with the best strategy that they could.

Yeah, that's what kind of confused me. You said earlier that Ari can't just kill Rikus or the humans will die... but if the light and dark both die at about the same time... okay, I got it.
It also explains why Ari wasn't fighting back a whole ton.
