She grand slammed that out of the park. Why no Oscar is beyond me! If there was a Mr. Rushmore type monument for iconic villians, Margaret Hamilton's Wicked Witch of the West would be up there!

I think of Elphaba as a totally different character.
In fact, I usually think of the movie witch (M. Hamilton) and the book witch by Baum to be separate since they are so different.
Margaret Hamilton will probably always be the best film WICKED though.

Maybe if Elphaba actually turned evil and diabolical in the end with no redemption, it might've been a much stronger tragedy.

Dang straight. She IS the wicked witch. She MADE that part. There are a few actors/actresses that take a part like that and just own it. And she was one of them.
