Description

Leaf is one of the OCs I lifted wholesale from something I'd already written, in this case an original story (inspired in no small part by Notting Hill, and I keep thinking it might make a fun stage play). I'd already established that the humans in his world were from Earth originally, so it wasn't hard to just say it was another planet and spaceships could go there.

Like other stories I wrote around the same time ("Bugfriend" and "Pyrite"), Leaf the Monster has him meeting someone and then developing as a person because of that relationship, something that lasts even after they go their separate ways. (It's no surprise, then, how much I loved Amphibia!)

Writing a story about monsters also let me do some worldbuilding. I tend to write all the monsters (except Petals) as being on the autism spectrum, and I also played around with gender and lingustics a bit.
