Description
Hex the bat spun, lashing out with his foot. The strike was quick, but the blow never landed home. His target, his wife, Nitara, dodged easily, slipping in under his leg. She launched a kick of her own, catching her husband in the chest, and causing him to stagger backwards. Nitara followed up, thrusting forward with a fist. Hex reacted. He brought up his hands, and caught her fist. The bat used his momentum, and that of his wife, to turn. Nitara gasped, her arm twisted enough to throw her off balance. Hex let go, and kicked. His foot struck Nitara's right hip, and a second struck her left knee. She dropped, her legs giving out beneath her. Hex spread his wings, balancing himself as he spun, and aimed a kick for her head. Nitara closed her eyes as she watched helplessly.
"That's the match to me," Hex said, his foot hovering inches from his wife's face.
Nitara opened her eyes and smiled.
"Well played," she replied. "Though next time, try not to telegraph some of those attacks so much."
Hex helped his wife up and embraced her. It had been an intense training session, and the kickboxing bout would leave a few sore spots and bruises for the next few days, but it was all worth it. The couple worked well together, pushing each other to greater feats. Hex knew he was lucky to have a partner like Nitara. Slowly he kissed her and grinned.
"Let's clean up and call it a day," he said.
Nitara nodded.
"I'll get dinner started while you shower," she answered.
The couple kissed once more, and then parted. Hex grabbed his towel and wiped his face. A shower and a good meal was the perfect way to end of a well worked day...
