Description They used to come
Sit in shade and laugh
With sandwiches and croquet balls

I laughed with the breeze
Sat alone in the sun
Watched on their company

A groan when the younger
Thought to climb
Hidden from all eyes they thought

If they had but known of mine
They mightve waited
For closed doors instead

And time moves forward
Such beings have moved on with it
Only the wild remains

I still sit in the sun
Waiting for time to bury me too.

Uncle Malcolm's seaside farm in Kiama, one of the most ancient trees on his estate, I love it there // Kiama, New South Wales, Australia // March 2007

Sigh, really beautiful. I agree with what RooCat said, the land must be enchanted to grow such an ancient tree so healthily.
Would love to see it xx

RooCat [2007-03-25 07:39:00 +0000 UTC]

An absolutely beautiful tree. Give us an idea of size. How big around is the trunk? How wide is the span? How tall is it? Fairies or devas much be living under it! They've just got to!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lizelei In reply to RooCat [2007-03-25 07:52:16 +0000 UTC]

aww thanks sweetie, I'm glad you liked it enough to fave it

anyway, the lower branch on the left hand side of the tree? I'm 5'11'' (178cm roughly) and the branch is about another foot taller than that, the roots are easily a foot wide each, I'd say the radius of the tree is a good five six meters... uhm yeah lol i kindof dont know how tall it'd be aye

RooCat In reply to lizelei [2007-03-25 07:57:30 +0000 UTC]

This tree talks straight to one's heart and soul. It is breath-taking. The land must be enchanted to grow such a tree.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lizelei In reply to RooCat [2007-03-26 10:12:59 +0000 UTC]

It was actually home to an ancient rainforest a few hundred years ago... I like to think there's some of that pure untouched wilderness left in this place and who would have thought sydney used to be a rainforest aye?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

RooCat In reply to lizelei [2007-03-26 22:36:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, I read enough about geology to realize that a lot of places have climates very unlike what they were including the desert I live in. It's just a wonderful tree, maybe it did tap into that original wildness and drew out the devas and fairies.
