(VHD is one of those old, bad vampire series where damsels have wardrobe malfunctions and men need to be punched in the face. XP Never really got into Castlevania, to be honest, but the fic's not that bad. XD It has a Mommy Sue. I like Mommy Sues.)

I tried to mix the two a bit.
I also wanted to get rid of that stupid sun-hat, but he just doesn't look like D without it. It's a vamp thing. What's-his-face from Black Blood Brothers wears one too. Can't figure out why Hellsing's Alucard needs one though.

A hand grazed his ear and the dhampire's eyes shot open.
The man yelped, but he wasn't quick enough to escape even an exhausted half-Noble. Alucard's knife was at his throat and his other hand yanked the human's head toward its edge, golden eyes promising a swift death if he didn't receive cooperation.
"Don't make a sound," he warned.

I am not exactly sure about the Alucard hat either. But you do need to admit that is does look cool on him. (He doesn't have it when he and Integra meet. Perhaps it was a gift from Intergra? I can see him liking that hat a lot if that was the case.)
Sorry I only know a bit about the series, mostly how about Integra and Alucard met.
About the picture, very nice. detailed, but not over done. All in all a very nice piece of work.

I think his eyes are a bit too round and his lips are a bit too plump, even compared to the Castlevania art. And maybe his eyebrows arch up a bit too soon. While he's still beautiful I feel like this D looks very mundane and not otherworldly compared to how I usually imagine him.
Anyway, this fic sounds interesting... I never got into Castlevania either, (and well, I only read the first VHD novel...) but I was always entranced by the art of both series.

it's very sunny on the frontier can't be inhumanly beautiful if you have sun burn. Hellsing's Alucard just has the hat because it makes him look like a pimp.
yeah you made D attractive looking for once. Yoshiaka Amano's illustrations always have this slightly sinister look to them when I'm reading. Your picture is more of what my mind pictures for itself.
Fun fact D actually wears a coat in the novels but it keeps getting drawn as a cape. Now I really need to get back to reading Dark Road parts 1&2 which is the latest D novel to come out in English.

I always imagined D with very narrow eyes and pointy sharp stone-carved features. Usually the brim of his hat covers part of his face too.
