Description my sister asked me to take some pictures of her having taught her pony to rear, this was the best one, though technically I shouldn't show this one because what she's doing is dangerous, but the others weren't as good.

1- she's pulling at the horse's mouth

2- she needs to lean more front

3- it is way safer for the horse to collect first (even if it takes time to collect it) and then apply pressure and whip

4- heels down

5- try to not use a snaffle when rearing. The horse will resist even more

how do I know? A couple of days research, experience, my own horse.

You want me to post pics of my horse rearing? No prob.

Very cool, but dangerous trick. I hope she hasn't injured herself doing this.

If you had read the artist's comments, you'll see that she taught the pony to do that.

Yeah... Should definitely not pull on the reins when a horse is rearing. Very easy for them to flip backwards. Mane yes.. reins no lol

Why is it dangerous, just out of curiosity? I like the angle you picked, rearing horses usually look silly from the front, but from the back it looks cool.

Because there's always the risk of your horse falling over. I'm sure having a human on your back can throw you off-balance My grandfather nearly broke his back when his horse fell on top of him, and I think he may have been doing it as a trick.

Is that it? The way she said it, it sounded like she meant there was something dangerous about the way Izzy's doing it rather than what she's doing.

Well, I've never ridden much, and most certainly have never done THAT... but maybe how she's pulling on the reins? It may make the horse pose real pretty, but it could freak it out and cause it to go over. But maybe she also meant what she was doing in general, and posting the picture might encourage someone to try it.. I dunno

it because she's pulling on the reins adn leaning back; you're supposed to lean forward i think. Its mainly just the photo, i think it looks worse than it actually was.
