Description EDIT: Decided to try some inking and colouring. I have to say inking in OC is such a pleasure!

I was just writing up this week's Navi blog post when I saw this sitting in my sketchbook... so just to show you I haven't been completely idle, here are some Zelda sketches!

They all come from the OoT manga, whose artists have done a fine job! Since I plan to draw my own illustrated comic someday, I thought I might study the anime style a bit and so picked on a number of images from which to learn - including those from the OoT manga.

Lol and yes I somehow loved the look of that Hylian Guard and drew him three times! He had an interesting face I thought...

Each was done in roughly 5-10 mins.

What did you think of the process of anime? speed vs results?
I like the progression and arangement of figures there, some sketchy all the way up to finished, good rhytum.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'speed vs results' but I'll go out on a limb and reply with this... It is a style of cartoon that is in someways simplistic yet complex in others, ie. The eyes are very very important and therefore need a lot of attention, the mouth not so much. I can see how, once learnt, it would be very easy to draw in the style. But its downside is it is hard to be completely original...

The page wasn't really planned! I just flicked through the manga, chose an image I liked and drew it. Then decided on some colouring and inking practice but it was enjoyable and I shall try and do as much sketching as I can in my free time

Yeah for OC! I love it for inking. I've been using it for a long, long time, for that explicit purpose. Really nice scrap page you have here. These all turned out very well.

Well it was one of the better sketch pages! But I still need to practice so much until I'm prepared enough to do faces, expressions and poses on my own...

I'm with CallistoHime; the profile shot of Link is definitely the coolest one. Real sense of moment; a real sense of life. -nod-

Yeah, he is my favourite too - again, he was done last, so my mind was definitely in manga drawing mode at that point!

I'll probably work my way through the manga practising... Perhaps I'll post more pages

I love that manga! Very cool, especially the one of Link in the bottom corner

It's very cool, isn't it? Whilst the style isn't exactly what I have in mind for my own project... It's still a good place to find some practice

Lol, yes that is my favourite of the lot! But you can tell it was done last as by the time I reach the bottom of the page my hand is well and truly warmed!
