Madeline is very much a villain’s dream come true. Rich family, good fashion sense, pleading eyes, “you won’t get away with this!” speeches and everything. The whole package. Think Gossip Girl meets Daphne Blake.

When she’s not being kidnapped for the enormous ransom she’d supposedly fetch, Madeline is the heiress to the Morales family fortune-a dynasty built on several generations of oil money (Texas, after all.)

Although money might never be an object for this girl, she is constantly fighting to be perceived as anything but a spoiled princess. An extremely hard worker, Madeline has built from the ground up the “Slonus Art Gallery” with her friend and business partner, Lindsay (with the help of a small loan million dollar loan from her father). The two have worked to curate one of the most prestigious collections in Austin-constantly seeking out pieces from the legends of the art world, as well as artists who will soon be giants in the community.

Sure, opportunities might fall in her lap most of the time-but dammit, if she doesn’t make the most of every single one. She may not always be the smartest gal in the room, but she’s determined to be the hardest working one-refusing to be perceived as some useless heiress.

Madeline’s friendship with Ashley and the gang began with the young socialite bound and gagged in an empty warehouse awaiting ransom, as most friendships do. Mogul (and exotic plant enthusiast), Audrey Venturi, kidnapped Madeline right before a football game, intending to use her as a bartering chip for the purchase of a controlling share of Morales Petroleum. This ordeal nearly resulted and her and another collateral cheerleader being fed to one of her many carnivorous plants before being rescued by Ashley and Adrianne.

Audrey Venturi has since always seen the hapless heiress as a sort of one that got away, and has kept a steady interest in the girl-perhaps even an obsession. Never one to leave a job unfinished, Venturi maintains a lingering hope that she’ll be able to finish their little date from all those years ago-and make Madeline plant food once and for all.

But if you ask Venturi about this directly, she’ll say she just wants to meet for coffee with a fellow woman of culture.

Unfortunately, the publicity behind this original kidnapping drummed up the idea amongst the villain community that Madeline is ideal real estate for taking. The ransom kidnappings continued through most of high school, from one corporate megalomaniac or another. Through sheer dumb luck, and an alarming amount of rescues, Ash and Madeline became fast friends.

Despite all of her security measures, kidnap and ransom are *still* a nigh monthly occurrence for Madeline, even into college. Her father, Arturo Morales, doesn’t fret at this point-usually it’s just easier to pay the ransom and be done with it rather than negotiate. Sure, a responsible parent would teach their kid to maybe defend themselves or avoid these situations altogether-but how do you *honestly* prepare anyone for the insane nonsense Ashley Hamrick might drag you into?
