The soft sound of a window opening in the otherwise silent corridor caused Rose to look up and she stopped dead in her tracks. Was that who she thought it was?
"Daryl!" she screamed, after confirming it was him.
"ROSE!" came the boy's reply, looking momentarily startled before his face broke out into a massive grin.
They both ran towards each other, Daryl's arms wide open by the time they got close and Rose all but sank into his embrace.
They hadn't seen each other in months and the unexpected meeting caused emotions to bubble over. Happiness, affection, maybe a bit of guilt swirled around their heads as they held each other tight
