Description
A birthday present for yannay on Gaia... also an RL friend, but I'm not going to tell you her real name. XD Anyhow, I thought I should do something dark-ish and Hallowe'en-ish for her since her birthday is, after all, on October 31... though after certain experiences with scary vampire chibis that nearly ate up all my friends, I thought I should draw something slightly... relatively... more normal and not-so-scary. I wonder if it worked? o___O Don't know why Kei keeps inventing random summoning circle things to put in her pictures though... Kei must think of something different for next time! @_@And the character was originally meant to be a witchy Yan, but then there was too much black on her already to give her black hair as well... so then I thought maybe I should make it white-ish silvery for the grandmother yannay, but then that didn't look quite right... and Yan might've killed me... so somehow the character ended up with red hair instead and I don't even know if it's Yan any more or not. o__O; Kenshin hair! Renji hair! Er...
Time taken: About 10.25 hours. @________@ The background took up a lot of that time too... o__O
As usual, done with a mouse in Adobe Photoshop 5.0, though I did a rough sketch on paper first to scan in. Kei is getting a bit tired though of her boring lines so maybe she will dig up her tablet for next time, if she can find it. And if it's still working...

Edit: Planning to enter this pic into an art contest at an upcoming anime convention so if on the unlikely chance someone actually notices it sporting a more realistic artist name than 'llifiel' or 'Kei'... it'll probably still be me. xD
Edit 2: Decided not to in the end, because things would get complicated... and I drew another picture for it instead which I wanted to enter more than this one, anyways.

I like it! Lovely dark, rich reds and golds work great against the darker backdrop. The detail is stunning - hat, dress, eyes, book, jewelery in her lap, top left corner, etc etc etc... Amazing work. The bars seemed a little strange at first as they are almost the same size as the blocks making up the wall... Maybe if they were a bit larger or smaller, the contrast between the two would seem more pronounced straight away.
Definitely amazing work - really nice indeed!

Nice work, I love the shading, light, and the whole theme. Just a few things, white spiders? The girls neck is a bit long, doesn't seem to fit her. Also her arms/hands in comparison to her wand are a tad small, I wouldn't be able to lift such a wand with those arms. Still nice, keep it up!

Thank you! ^^ For the cobwebs, I just drew them normally, then changed their opacity to about 50% and then got the eraser and set it at a low opacity and rubbed bits of them out so that some bits look faded whereas others don't! And for the strands... just more random squiggles on a layer with low opacity. XD
And again, the moonlight through the window was just a yellow brush set on low opacity, on a layer on top of the rest of the picture so that it would make everything it went over yellow... being able to change the opacity on things is very useful, I find! xP

Lovely details, and there's a real atmosphere about this piece. Once again, the creases have been exaggerated a little too much. I love the scene, and the entire piece is a real work of art!

This picture is certainly beautiful in many aspects, such as the background and the character. The details in this picture are very impressive. And yet, the entire thing is done with a mouse, which is great. Well, the creature at the bottom right-hand corner is slightly hard to see from a distance. The anatomical proportions (of the face and neck) are a bit off, though.

The shadings and lightings are really really detailed...and the red and black colors does suit the theme of the picture! I like the way you did the spider-web too.
