Description Apophysis 2.08 b2
Catholicism meets Chaos is a further exploration of taking a class with Platinus

I like the intensity

If you look closely in the base of the cross, and around the chaotic pentigonial forms, you can find a kind of hyroglyphics, which are actually the manifestation of the language between mathematics and god.

I have always looked at catholicism as a chaotic paganism with rose windows penetrating the arse of the pope

Nice work. Very well handled. Fractal type software can be tricky to control.

hmm. i enjoy the intensity as well, however i've been meaning to ask you something, it's been bothering me greatly, how can you have worked so closely with a master like salvador dali, and gone into an artistic field like fractal art, it is really very strange to me.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LMarkoya In reply to buildingsforbrains [2009-01-21 13:13:57 +0000 UTC]

Hahhhh....this is evolution not revolution. If you had studied Dali closely at all you would know that he was a big follower of science and mathematics, and has based many of his paintings on those studies. Not only am I certain that Dali would utilize fractals heavily in his art, I am researching if he actually did before he died. The difference is, Dali would have just ripped off the fractals he wanted to use in his works, I have chosen to actualy get some training and know something about their creation, with the end result hoping to be that fractals are simply elements to use in larger more complex works.

Have I quenched your curiosity?

Yes, thank you very much. I'll admit that I'm not a big fan of Dali, or any of the surrealists really, I find that I just can't relate. However, you're answer is very nice, and rare on a website like this, where many of the users are not truly artists, or even admirers of what is truly art. Thank you again. I've been considering using fractals in my work, but not as my work, and the possibility of Dali using them has piqued my interest.

THank you, and thank you for your civil reply.....Dali, I am 1000% certain, would use fractal heavily.....perhaps neveralone, but as elements in pieces.

buildingsforbrains In reply to LMarkoya [2009-01-22 03:00:00 +0000 UTC]

Have you found people not to reply civilly? That seems strange to me. I watched/read the interview of you that they did and I felt that the panel was quite immature, that must have driven you crazy.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LMarkoya In reply to buildingsforbrains [2009-01-22 03:35:02 +0000 UTC]

I was fine with the panel in the interview.....I simply realize I'm a lot older than most members here, and sometimes, their age shows

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

buildingsforbrains In reply to LMarkoya [2009-01-22 04:18:08 +0000 UTC]

Haha, that's a nice way of putting it, however, I'm a lot younger than most of the panel was and i still think that they could have been a bit more professional or at least not called themselves a panel, i wonder if any of them have ever conducted a real interview.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LMarkoya In reply to buildingsforbrains [2009-01-22 04:30:10 +0000 UTC]

I would hazard a guess that there was no real interview experience.....but there seems to be a vibe of spirit here as opposed to professionalism....and, since this is a business, I guess it works.....but to that end, I think it could work a lot better

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

buildingsforbrains In reply to LMarkoya [2009-01-22 04:33:42 +0000 UTC]

Agreed i think. The spirit is great, however, the motivation seems to be lacking.

I love it, it has an intensity yes but I also like how the chaos is controlled by certain areas of conformity and symmetry within the work. That class is well worth the time it seems!
