Description Apophysis 2.08
Until yesterday I did not think fractals on their own could be surreal...or perhaps I never had the thought that they could be. Here I happily offer my 2nd surreal fractal....reminds me very much of Francis Bacon. The title of the work is;
"Fractal Carcass Picked Clean by the Fibonacci Sequence"

fractal carcass?
hmm, i dunno, a carcass would [obviously] refer to something that's dead, this seems very much alive to me

Well...it is a carcass....it has just refused to decompose

Loved the gradient, title, and how you described this piece in your chat session. I definitely agree that fractals represent a very general and wide open image, but the title is key to revealing what it is the viewer is supposed to look at.

Lovely work, the palette you chose lends itself well to the organic interpretation.

Thank you...I agree...the fractal would be very uninteresting with almost any other palette

Your title suggests that it is eating itself ..... would be a fitting illustration to the words of Thomas Wolfe (regarding conceptual art): "…there, at last, it was! No more realism, no more representation objects, no more lines, colors, forms, and contours, no more pigments, no more brushstrokes. … Art made its final flight, climbed higher and higher in an ever-decreasing tighter-turning spiral until…it disappeared up its own fundamental aperture…and came out the other side as Art Theory!… (The Painted Word)

I had not really thought a fractal could be surreal until Gigers Zipper and the Fractal Carcass...I belive them to be at the edge of a new artform

Surely not one of the average generated images.

Beautiful work. Lots of movement, I donΒ΄t see it like a carcass, because i can see the blood still running. Almost like itΒ΄s rebuilding itself.

To me, the exposed bone and tendons off the fractal make it a carcass....you know that damn fibonacci can be ravanous as well as beautiful

THanks CHrissie.....I did not think alien when I made it but can see what you mean.....I prefer to look it as a carcass.....something that is alien to Apophysis and fractals for the most part
