I love Dovewing. How would you feel if you're sister you loved and cared about started to hate you over something you couldn't control? How would you feel if you're an appretince and you already have the Dark Forest and everything else on you're shoulders? It sucks. She just wanted to be normal and have normal friends and not need to be scared of everything in every corner. She was lonely, and felt like no one could make her feel better. She found comfort in Tigerheart. You guy's are way to harsh on my pour girl.Β

I kind of see her as a Mary Sue. Her struggles seemed so dramatic and unnecessary. She whined about not wanting to spy on other clans, while facing no danger, to better her clan, while her sister, all the while, was spying on blood hungry Warriors who wouldn't resist killing her if they found out she was spying. To add to that, she was completely ungrateful as an apprentice. She always complained about being more powerful than the dead cats that give out prophecies. Yup. Great job, Dovepaw. That's the perfect way to react to a gift. I do understand that she may have wanted to be like other cats, and it felt unfair, but Jayfeather or Lionblaze never complained about wanting to be like everyone else. Heck, Dovepaw should've considered herself lucky that she had Jayfeather and Lionblaze to help her figure out how her powers worked. They had to figure it out themselves.
Then there was the whole 'All hail Dovepaw' thing that happened, where literally EVERYONE in the clan praised Dovepaw like crazy, and Ivypaw got nothing, which caused her to be lured into the Dark Forest.
And then...Tigerheart. Oh, dear goodness, I hate Dovewing for that whole thing! "Hm...betray my clan and the warrior code for a Shadowclan cat I barely know, or become mates with a nice, selfless, Thunderclan warrior who also has a crush on me? Come here, Tigerheart!" That's literally what happened in Omen of the Stars. Then, she decided she had to be loyal to her clan, and became mates with Bumblestripe. I was so happy that unlogical love triangle was over. After that, Bramblestar's Storm broke my dreams(and Bumblestripe's).
Ok I think it's time to stop ranting. TL;DR: Dovewing has always been too dramatic and her "struggles" shouldn't be taken seriously. She got way too much praise for her hunting. She makes horrible decisions, especially concerning her love life.

I mean sure, I guess she is important to the plot and all- but only because the Erins decided to toss Hollyleaf out of the picture. Too bad, I would've much prefered if Hollyleaf had stayed a main protagonist. I'd choose her over Dovewing any day. But eh, there's nothing we can do about it now besides rant, so... cx

Yeah. Hollyleaf has to be one of my favorite characters. It's too bad the Erin's couldn't think up a power for her(Stupidest reason to kill someone off, btw. It's right behind Honeyfern's reason for death). I would've loved it if Ivypool was the third or fourth, too. Also, what was up with Firestar getting in another prophecy? That was a really stupid plot twist XD

Yeah, I didn't really get that to be honest. How is he the fourth in the prophecy? It never seemed like there was supposed to be a fourth, it was called "The Power of Three" for a reason. It just felt kind of rushed, I guess- if there had been more foreshadowing and stuff, it could've been pulled off much better. And yeah, the Hollyleaf thing really bugs me. And even after she comes back to the Clans, they just kill her off again? Like really?

More foreshadowing definitely would've helped. I'm pretty sure that prophecy was first learned about in book 4 or 5 and happened in book 6(OotS). 'Fire will save the clan' was revealed book 1 and became true in book 6(TFP). 'blood will spill blood' was revealed book 2 or 3, and became true in book 6(TNP). Heck, 'Three, kin of your kin' was revealed book 1 and became true and developed throughout that series AND next series(PoT and OotS). Plus, Starclan just flat out told Jayfeather! No hints or anything, they just told him. "Hey guys, thanks for making my friends and I panic at the thought of a fourth and then tell me who it is right before the battle! cool, thx"
At least when she actually died, it was for a good cause. Protecting her clanmate. But, yes, that made me mad. If they were going to kill her off in the battle that would be in book 6, they could've brought her back sooner. Not book 1 sooner, but maybe in late book 3 or early book 4, not late book 5. We all wanted more time to get to know the more developed Hollyleaf.

I also find her annoying, tbh.
She complains about having her powers, having a little love triangle of her own like Squirrelflight did, and she acts like her powers are a burden even though she gets high praise for it while Ivypool has to compete with her own sister and ends up failing to get the same praise as Dovewing does.

Yes exactly. She's just so whiny and dramatic over having literal super powers, while poor Ivypool is actually risking her life to dance with the devil every night for the sake of the Clans, yet barely gets any recognition compared to her sister.
