Description I've made a M.A portrait before but that looks half decent today so I wanted to draw a new one that is worthy of the legend and at the same time give me my hardest challenge yet

The reference pic was insanely detailed and full of different shadings/lightnings which gave it a really dynamic look which I really wanted to capture.

I used hb,2b,4b and 6b pencils and a stompfer.

Wow.

A great level of detail captured here.

Excellent

Even though the emmense detail is definitely apparent, I still get the feeling the uploaded version does not truly represent the quality of the true drawing.

They should donate SLR's to people with your talent. One day I'll get one too. Mine will never be donated though

This is just freaking amazing. I swear. All the details, and no tracing? Gah, that's exactly what I want to learn how to do. This is SO GOOD!!
I really thought it was a photograph. It deserves much more than just a fave.

thanks! , yeah that's right no tracing.Frankly, I don't see the point with tracing or why someone would want to use it, if you draw free handed it will be YOUR portrait, you draw the picture the way your eyes sees it and because of that your drawing will have a character in itself and not just from the person your portraying, know what I mean? if two people decided to draw the same reference pic with tracing they would look extremly similar
I advise you to start drawing portraits free handed, it's super hard in the beginning but if you stick at it I promise you will improve over time and learn a lot which you then can apply to other things and not just portraits

That is insane! Awesome artwork man! You can actually see every little blemish on his skin, must have been extremely difficult and time-consuming to get that right. I really like the composition as well, having such a close-up of his face makes it really dramatic.

thanks a lot man! I'm glad you like it so much yeah that was really difficult, this was easily my hardest drawing yet, yeah I loved the composition of the reference pic as you said it looks really dramatic.
