Description
Big Band (from Skullgirls (Encore), 2013)
-Heavyweight, quite possibly one of the largest characters.
-Has a slew of high-powered moves, though he has a slow walk speed and moderate run speed.
-Big Band’s hits inflict music stun, allowing for easier combos.
Neutral: Honky Tonk—Big Band pulls out a horn and honks twice.
Side tilt: Glissando—Big Band strikes with two trombone slides.
Up tilt: Beat Extend—Big Band clamps two tambourines and rattles them, trapping the opponent.
Down tilt: Low Rank—Big Band smacks downward with a set of Pan pipes.
Dash attack: Ring-A-Ding—Big Band pulls out a triangle and slides forward a bit, ringing it.
Forward smash: Air Mail Special—Big Band uppercuts with a big saxophone horn.
Up smash: Bass Drop—Big Band charges up, then falls to the ground, blasting a sound wave that launches anyone around him.
Down smash: Overblow—Big Band slams a huge horn upon the ground, hitting an area around him.
Neutral aerial: Jelly Roll—Big Band does a front flip and strikes with a tambourine.
Forward aerial: 5000lb. Slam—Big Band tips over and kicks out. Any hit from the bottom or front of his body will do damage.
Back aerial: Kick Stand—Big Band turns around and kicks behind him, a music stand jutting out from beneath him. The initial music stand strike causes meteor.
Up aerial: Aerial version of Beat Extend.
Down aerial: Sweet Clarinet—Big Band strikes with a clarinet, then spins it. Striking with the mouthpiece’s tip causes meteor.
Grab: Big Band clamps a bell around the victim.
Pummel: Ringing bell.
Forward throw: Thrusts opponent directly forward.
Back throw: Turns around and thrusts opponent backward.
Up throw: Releases opponent and does Pneumatic Slide, striking twice with trombone slides.
Down throw: Slams bell down and does Hot Sock, kicking opponent with miniature kick pedal.
Floor attack (front): Rolls forward and smashes with horn.
Floor attack (back): Drops a kick pedal.
Floor attack (trip): Stands up and does Take Five, striking two horns out on either side of him.
Edge attack: Climbs back up and slams with horn.
Neutral special: Brass Knuckles—Big Band does a huge punch with the brass fist. Pressing the button in the middle of the attack turns it into Take the A Train, in which Big Band grabs the opponent and crushes them with a trombone slide.
-Custom 1: Take the A Train—Take the A Train is the default move. It’s faster, but it cannot become Brass Knuckles.
-Custom 2: Brass Armor—Slower startup, but Big Band gets super armor when executing the punch. Cannot become Take the A Train.
Side special: Super-Sonic Jazz—Big Band does the HORN CRUSH!!! If Bagpipe Blues has been activated, it goes into TUBA TUBA TUBA!
-Custom 1: TUBA TUBA TUBA TUBA TUBA!!!—Only has TUBA TUBA TUBA!, and has much higher power. Must always be activated by Bagpipe Blues; using this move without Bagpipe Blues will result in one measly punch.
-Custom 2: Super-Sonic Blastoff—Big Band travels in a parabolic arc upwards. Does not leave Big Band helpless.
Up special: Timpani Drive—Big Band slams on his timpani set, allowing free aerial movement for a short time.
-Custom 1: Timpani Burst—Big Band makes one huge jump from the timpani set, dealing big damage but without the free aerial movement.
-Custom 2: Timpani Missile—Big Band blasts diagonally in the direction input, then blasts straight downward.
Down special: Giant Step/Cymbal Crash—On the ground, this move is Giant Step; it strikes once in a large radius around Big Band and creates a lot of hitstun. In the air, this move is Cymbal Crash and Big Band smashes a set of cymbals together below him. If performed at a ledge, Giant Step can be used to spike the foe.
-Custom 1: Aerial Giant Step—Instead of becoming Cymbal Crash, the move stays Giant Step in mid-air. The kick pedal has meteor.
-Custom 2: Armored Pedal/Armored Cymbal—Big Band gets super armor when performing either move, but each is slower to execute. Higher power.
Final Smash: Strike Up the Band—Big Band stomps the ground, causing a considerable number of trumpets to appear, then causing them to play a brass fanfare, dealing massive damage to anyone caught in the Final Smash.
Taunts:
Up taunt: Tips fedora with triangle beater.
Side taunt: Free Form: Big Band pulls out a trumpet that does a joke launch if it strikes. It is possible to do Satchmo Solo (and, by extent, Satchmo Death Blow).
Down taunt: Bagpipe Blues: Adds “TUBA TUBA TUBA!!!” to Super-Sonic Jazz
Victory poses:
-“I have to go; my planet needs me.” Big Band’s lower half transforms into a set of rockets, and Big Band flies away.
-“The world is full of obvious things.” Big Band stands there, pumping out a sax solo. (If fighting Peacock, he says “Take it slow. You still got a lot to learn.”)
-Sitting on a chair. “A gentleman celebrates quietly.”

Palutena's Guidance:
Pit: Whoa! Is that a one-man band or a one-man army?
Palutena: That’s Big Band, Pit. One of the earlier models of Anti-Skullgirl weaponry. Originally he was a policeman who was brutally turned upon by his fellow cops, since they were in it with the crime bosses.
Pit: Wait… I didn’t do anything wrong, did I?
Palutena: Well, you ARE in a fighting game. Big Band has all manner of musical instruments strapped to him; he’s a jazz aficionado, as it seems.
Pit: What do I have to watch out for?
Palutena: Big Band likely has the most dangerous taunts in the game, since they add extra attacks to his special moves. Try to interrupt him in the middle of a taunt so you can keep his power in check. I don’t think you’d want to be on the wrong end of a big brass fist.
