Description
Toad rubbed his head. He tried to recall all the events that happened today.
First, those weird bugs appeared all over his factory, accompanied by Wario.
Then, those weird bugs began to form strange soldiers that emptied his machines. Toad had protested against this.
Wario had pulled out a big gun and shot him, but Toad was tackled by someone/something that saved his life.
Wario was hit with a thunderbolt. Toad learned that his rescuer was the Black Mage.
Wario yelled something and left on his Wario Bike.
Toad and the Black Mage were surrounded by the Primids and taken to a makeshift cell. The bigger Primids knocked him out.
The last thing he saw was Black Mage trying to free himself from the grasp of the Primids.
Black Mage had woken him up and pointed at a vent. Toad had irritably asserted that he knew the vents were there.
Now he was crawling through one in order to escape his own factory. He didn't understand why he could just get out the front door and leave.
Toad took a peek through one of the vents. Through all the shifting gears and pushing pistons, he saw that his crushing processors weren't filled with the colorful gelatinous substance that he filled Item Blocks with.
Instead, they were filled with the weird bugs: Shadow Bugs. They formed mechanical members of an army: Armanks, weird Salvo-the-Slime-type creatures who drove dragon tanks, and some other strange creatures, too: Nagagogs, blue fighters who changed size and color as their health state became more and more critical.
Toad grumbled that his day couldn't get any worse. Black Mage shushed him and told him to continue crawling through the vents.
Eventually, they reached the end of the vent, and Toad kicked the grate onto the ground. He took a peek: He and the Black Mage had made it out.
He exchanged glances with Black Mage. His comrade's glowing yellow eyes were all that showed. Toad was annoyed how he could not tell his emotions from his facial expressions. All that showed under his big hat were his eyes.
Toad and the Black Mage crawled out of the grate undetected. The Armanks and Nagagogs rolled/stepped off the assembly lines, ready for battle.
Toad told the Black Mage to follow him, for he knew this facility like the back of his hand.
Toad jumped to the cranes that were moving across the water. Black Mage followed suit. Then Toad navigated the conveyor belts, pulling the Black Mage along for safety purposes.
Toad made note of a service door to the machinery in the factory. He told Black Mage to follow him in.
They crawled into the service door and looked around for the factory emergency shut-off switch. Luckily, Toad found it easily. Of course he knows his own factory. Toad flipped the switch.
The machinery ground to a halt. Toad pumped his fist.
Then alarms began to blare. Black Mage and Toad stared at each other. Autolances began to drive into the room, followed by Fire Primids and Metal Primids.
Toad ran out of the room, dragging Black Mage behind him. He stuck his tongue out at them and dashed down the corridor, the Black Mage following him.
Toad was fuming. He couldn't believe that Wario would RIG the SHUT-OFF SWITCH.
He walked out the front door of the factory. He made note of the three bulldozers in the lot. And then a bright idea lit up in Toad's mind.
Two Primids were chattering to each other, talking about Toad's escape. One clonked the other on the head, calling it a nitwit.
Both of them heard the rumble of wheels coming down corridor. They turned their heads, and their eyes widened.
Two puddles of Shadow Bugs were left on the floor.
Toad whooped in the seat of the bulldozer. Who needs stealth when you've got a 600-horsepower engine and a steel shovel?
Black Mage sat next to him worriedly. Were they going too fast? What if somebody put a stop to Toad's antics?
Toad charged down the hallways of his factory, plowing down whatever Subspace minions were in his way. He laughed as the wheels rattled against the dissolving bodies of the soldiers.
Toad had made a full run of the factory before stopping in the muddy lot where he had found the bulldozer. He jumped out and landed with a flourish.
He did not notice the tentacle emerging from the pool of water behind him.
Suddenly, many things happened at once. Toad found himself stuck in the grip of a squid, wriggling and crying for help. Ink splattered everywhere and Black Mage had run out of the bulldozer. He waved his staff and Toad was freed.
Toad was falling. He tried to cushion his fall by landing on his head. He bounced and landed on his feet. He turned around and screamed.
He screamed, for a giant white squid with a corked mouth had burst from the water. Black goop leaked from the cork, dribbling all over the dusty ground. This gargantuan cnidarian had several long and heavy tentacles, a great big spotted head, and a nasty temper. It slammed its tentacles on the ground.
This giant squid was named Gooper Blooper.
Toad squeaked in terror. The Black Mage pointed his staff at Gooper Blooper. However, the humongous squid grabbed the staff and flung it to the ground. Black Mage dove for it: the magic stored in it was volatile.
Luckily, Black Mage caught the staff before it hit the ground and exploded.
Toad and Black Mage gawked at Gooper Blooper. They did not have any idea how to stop this squid from destroying the factory.
Just when it seemed that all hope was lost, an Arwing came flying down, doing a barrel roll. Lasers spewed from its cannons, blasting Gooper Blooper's tentacles. The cnidarian screeched and flailed its tentacles at the Arwing, however, the fighter jet did not let up. It zipped around Gooper Blooper, barrel rolling and firing lasers.
Gooper Blooper, ink dribbling from mouth, swept a tentacle at the Arwing, knocking it out of the sky. The fighter jet stalled, fell, and crashed to the ground. Its fazed driver opened the cockpit, revealing two long rabbit ears, a big rabbit snout, a pair of rabbit glasses, a rabbit lab coat complete with rabbit pants and rabbit penny loafers.
This was Peppy Hare, a member of the organization Star Fox. Moments before, he had been in the skies, pursuing the Halberd, before he was shot down.
Peppy pulled out his handguns and fired at Gooper Blooper. Gooper roared and swiped at Peppy. The rabbit bounced backward, wound up his leg, and bounded into the air in a barrel roll. Gooper Blooper was smashed in the face.
Toad noticed the cork on Gooper's face. He reasoned that it must have some importance to Gooper.
Toad jumped toward Gooper Blooper while it was preoccupied with attacking Peppy Hare. He grabbed the cork and began to yank as hard as he could. Gooper Blooper noticed and turned his attention to Toad. But it was too late: The cork popped from Gooper's mouth. Ink sprayed everywhere, splattering all over the ground, in the water, on the chain-link fence...
Toad, Peppy Hare, and the Black Mage found themselves covered in black goop.
Gooper Blooper had gone purple with rage. It flailed its tentacles and fired off balls of high-pressure ink. Then it sprayed a gush of the goop at Peppy Hare. He was flattened against the wall of the factory. Gooper screeched and slammed its tentacles on the ground, before lifting itself out of the water and onto the dirt.
Toad and the Black Mage faced the giant Blooper. Toad pulled out a big party hammer and the Black Mage's staff crackled with lightning.
They charged at Gooper Blooper.
CLANG! WHACK! DONG!
Metal Mario was punching Primids left and right. They got smacks in the face, groin, and other uncomfortable areas that would be unmentionable in a Nintendo story. Meanwhile, Magolor was letting fly several attacks from his detached hands. He could throw windmills with a large radius, uppercuts from across the room, or a special twisting punch that is not normally possible.
Metal Mario was busy smashing an Autolance's helmet when the Lor began to rumble. Magolor rushed to the dashboard and began to punch in coordinates. The ship shuddered, knocking the Subspace Army off of their balance, and Metal Mario worked to kick them off Magolor's ship.
The Lor Starcutter rose out of its ditch, shaking off dirt and roots. Its engines flared up, and it sped into the distance, Shadow Bugs trailing out of it. Magolor and Metal Mario high-fived, happy to be rid of the shadows that plagued the Lor. Magolor then yelped in pain and grabbed his throbbing hand, blowing against it and massaging it. Metal Mario shrugged.
A large line of Shadow Bugs began to rise out of the ground. A dark vehicle manifested from the skittering purple blobs of matter. It resembled a large bus with glowing yellow eyes in place of headlights, and steel-rimmed tires with the Subspace logo emblazoned on it. The vehicle's body had several vents from which bursts of shadowy energy crackled around it. The body itself glowed dark purple, and the sleek metal drew to a sharp point in the back of the roof.
It snapped its grille, sniffing the air and acknowledging the scent of Energy Spheres and engine exhaust. The Shadow Bus, now complete in its formation, filled its body with Shadow Bugs. Primids emerged from this shadowy mass, taking seats inside of the sentient Shadow Bus.
The vehicle grunted and sped off after the Lor Starcutter, its eyes burning with a fiery ambition. The will of Subspace must be fulfilled.
