Description Visiting BR Standard Class 7 4-6-2 no.70000 Britannia stands at Llangollen station, waiting to head out into the (very damp) North Wales countryside during the Llangollen Railway's "Steel, Steam & Stars III" gala. Built at Crewe in 1951, she was the first of 999 Standard locos produced by BR between then and 1960.

Interesting shot, nicely done!

(I have an old Triang-Hornby HO-scale model of this locomotive - from the mid 1960s. It still runs. I've mentioned this on other comments, so if I'm repeating myself...)

Thank you!

I don't think you've mentioned it to me before, so no problem. I can never remember what I've said, let alone anyone else!

First thought that sprang to mind was how dramatic this photo seems to be. I could easily imagine the sounds from that engine, and it looks like it would be quite a strong little thing too.

*Grins* Less of the "little"; this is a pretty big locomotive. But thank you!

And she's a rolling steam leak by the look of it! Get the spanners out boys!

Crewe, I'm saying no more...

This was one of the "cleaner" shots... there are others in which you can barely tell there's a loco there!
