In the dark, alone in the dark her mind raced as her heart beat steadily accelerated.
What, she wondered, what could it possibly mean?
Why was he the only one who could see her?
Why was he, of all the people that she had "met", of all the people that she had reached out, why was he the only one that she
could touch?
Why wasn't he as afraid of her she would have been if she had been in his shoes?
Why had he accepted her so easily?
So readily?
Why had he, why was he so closely driven into her heart?
Wasn't she just a ghost?
Wasn't she beyond such worldly concepts?
What was really going on and what did it all really mean...?

The atmosphere in this piece is amazing. Of course this is an illustration, but there is a realistic quality both in her face and hands, as well as in the background. This is even more impressive as it is black. I don't mean to imply this is derivative, because it isn't, but I almost get the same feeling I do when seeing the Upside Down in Stranger Things.
